I would have never guessed that you are French. Nice to know, neighbor. I'm Swiss. Theoretically, the lighthouses stand next to dangerous areas to tell ships that they shouldn't go there. If it is so far inside the island, it defeats the purpose. But I guess if you put smaller lights at the more dangerous points around the island then it would probably work again. Anyways. I'm really impressed by the progress you did. It takes a lot of drive to keep working on it for that long. But not only the things you did for the game. The editing was great and doing the entire video in a foreign language is also impressive. I look forward to where the game is going. I like the concept and your presentation style.

Hey man, cool stuff. Not sure if anyone said it yet but you don't need to "explode" the mesh as you're doing here to get good bakes, there's some options in the substance painter baker that allows you to bake based on mesh names, if you name your lowpoly meshes something like _low and highpoly like _high you could use that option, however, it could be a little wonky/finicky to texture stuff thats hidden behind other objects since you're using a more shared texturemap between the different clothes.
@FreedomIsPiracy3 ай бұрын
Why I didn't know that haha! Thank you! Maybe I will still need to do some of this for precise situation like the col of the shirt right?
@A.Dennis.A3 ай бұрын
@@FreedomIsPiracy maybe, both ways are correct and sort of situational i guess, but could work really well whenever you create weapons or have either intersecting or close to intersecting geometry, like beams, textiles in marketstands for example

Hello, I noticed that the crowds in your game don't exactly move very fluidly. There's a technique called Continuum Crowds that should fix that problem. It's a super old solution and there are probably better ones than it now, but it's a good place to start. There are open source repositories that demonstrate it so it should be pretty straightforward to implement if you're interested
@FreedomIsPiracy3 ай бұрын
Hello there, thanks for the tip, indeed the crowd needs some avoidance and better movement. At first, I didn't plan to make NPC but I couldn't show the city without some life.. I'll keep that in my head when we will tackle crowd system!

ayo why not have them be toys, if it makes it easier to model, that sounds like a cool twist, have a toy story undertone to the game, but The biggest lesson from the Anime I saw all around this video was One Piece, and One Piece is a lesson for all media on how to balance goofiness with serious tones, and I think you can achieve this very easily with this game, but I think it could be fine if the characters look like toys. Also I love the Pirate theme, and I love One Piece, a Pirate One Piece like game is a game that could take hours upon days from my time if done right. But there are many things you have to consider with your games, and there are some things that are still not clear, or it may be too early right now. Is this a 1st or 3rd person game? Will it Have Multiplayer? How will the combat feel? (as in what are you closely trying to replicate) Will it be open world or have a semi-open world? Will there be crafting elements? will it have Fishmen? Devil Fruits? and crazy Islands? the better question is how much inspiration are you taking from shows like One Piece, or movies like Pirates of The Caribbean? how will Sailing feel? what are the monsters and fish lurking in the seas and skies? Will you add a Sky island? please Also how can I help make your game a reality, since this video shows that you are a very competent developer/artist and you like to challenge yourself with things you are not familiar with. All I can do is write quests, or npc backgrounds, and maybe try to flesh out smaller lore bits, your game sounds amazing.

Wow, this is very impressive! One thing that I would recommend is that the skybox does not fit the direction of your art style. In my own game dev experience creating a uniquely styled skybox was one of the main thing that locks in the feel of the game. My experience with Unreal 5 is limited, but in Godot I was able to find a lot of helpful resources that made creating a unique skybox possible for even an inexperienced developer like myself.

Games revolving around a story line are bad.
@FreedomIsPiracy3 ай бұрын
I think it depends if bad means different from the type of game you like
@Saradominstr3 ай бұрын
@@FreedomIsPiracy Let me explain, since I think there is actually a good argument to NOT make story driven games. I'll try to keep it short. When a game revolves around a story, the amount of time that a player is expected to spend on completing the game is directly corelated to the length of the provided story, which in most cases tends to be around 40-80 ish hours for single player games made by high end studio's. And for low budget games with only one developer it's probably going to be a lot shorter than that. So you're limiting the potential game time for your players by introducing a story. Once a player has completed the story arch, they basically completed (most of) the game and then stop playing it, even if there is potential for lots of replay ability in the core game play loop.
@FreedomIsPiracy3 ай бұрын
@@Saradominstr You're making points, but there is so much more to say as it depends on a lot of factors. What I can say is the game is not a corridor. As it's an Open World, you can either explore and progress or develop the story line. I want the player to have the freedom to choose what he wants to do.
