Well done and very nice system. You should have a look at linear servos for your next project it might make it easier for that type of movement. Looking forward to your next video of your nice layout.

Thanks, I look into linear servo, but then I saw that principle in another video, so I went for it, since I already had regular servos lying around.

Cool build! Nevertheless, the movement action of the servo is perpendicular to the movement of the gate. Humbly think a tweak in which the servo movement is transferred to a lateral movement alongside the direction of the gate, will definitely improve both the balance of the movement, as lessen the tendency to swivel. Also it will provide the opportunity to mount the gate in two spots, underneath the board. As a suggestion, you could take a look at one of James Walter’s vids on improving lateral action for turnouts with a mechanism added to the servo. Also, I humbly think a brass I beam as the base for the gate will be a good idea. The guides for the gate can then be fitted with rollers, which will further improve both the action and prototypical look of the gate. Still, overall a very interesting and impressive project. Very much like and appreciate the effort you’ve put in. And absolutely love these kinds of animations for our layouts.

Thanks for your input. I evaluated other solutions, but I decided to go to the simplest, as the gate is quiet in the back, and we don't use it that often. Also me and Sven Magnus tuned it a lot, it was way more janky at the beginning. We only use it when there are guests in the trainroom. On our last exhibition day, most people didn't really notice it that it opened when a train arrived.
