How to install a decoder in an analogue Märklin locomotive

In this video we show you how to install a decoder in a locomotive. We use a Märklin motor conversion kit and an ESU Lokpilot 5 decoder.
It is not witchcraft to do something like this, and takes about 1-2 hours.
We are using a Märklin BB 26000 with item number 3334 from 1988, and the drum motor conversion with 60941.

It's just training. You get a steady hand after burning yourself a couple of times. (And also I'm the one with non steady hand, compared to Sven Magnus)

Hello, I have an old Marklin 3166 loco, what would be the Marklin motor upgrade and decoder I would need to run on my Marklin Digital MFX? Thank you for your vlogs keep them coming.

From what I see you need the motor kit 60941 (same as in the video) and either a Märklin or ESU decoder. Open your lcomotive and check that inside looks the same as in mine. There are only 3 different kits.

Hi what is the resistor value you used to connect the motor

This is not a resistor, but a chocke (inductor). It was a part of the kit. Otherwise I recommend around 4 uH.

You mean what type of LED i used, I bought some from distrelec. Unless you go for special types, they all have similar ratings. I have bunch of different ones in different size and light temperature.

Can you use lokpilot 5 to use dc locos on dcc roco track?? Aslong as they have the right conectors?

Yes, you can. The decoder has nothing to do with the mechanical current pickup.
