Very nice box, but white oak is hard and heavy. Hope you don't have to tote it around much ;-) And thanks for the intro to katalox, I'd never heard of it. I'd like to try some -- it's cheaper than true ebony I hope?

The strength of white oak was one of the reason why I chose it. I plan for the box to get a lot of use. And yes, Katalox is a cheaper alternative to Ebony. I wouldn't say that it is cheap, I think it was around $15-20 per bf the last time I bought it but compared to the price of Ebony its a bargain.
