I like this kind of video because it reminds me of that scene from Toy Story 2 when that old man repairs Woody. It's really pleasant to watch shoes being cleaned.

This is probably going to sound weird but it was immensely satisfying watching the amount of care you used while applying the black paint (?) to the sole of the shoe with that tiny brush.

Tony Montana seriously???
@chris-cole7 жыл бұрын
Tony Montana just goes to show you never know what personal stuff people are facing. To the camera and my perspective he's one cool cat! love his fashion statements (the jacket that time and his hats) and he's got banter too! I don't know him at all, but damn J keep it together man because that shit is one miserable road to fucking hell. I see you and I see your bright future! keep doing the shoes and the videos because it keeps you busy, feedback on here shows that you're efforts are appreciated! shit I even clean my kids school shoes three times a week because this shoe shining stuff has gone trendy and it's serious, gotta look after that leather! YOU inspired that! From a stranger who knows you little but cares more, keep it together and be strong mate. I wish you well, you can do it!!!!

Tony Montana Why would you post all this extremely personal stuff for everyone to read?
@daniellack35597 жыл бұрын
You posted a comment further down the page saying "Tremendous, more like horrendous"...and you expect folks to believe that you are a friend of Jason and wish him nothing the best, plus you expect folks to believe stuff about rehab...This is definitely not what Al Gore created the Internet for.....

He's a liar. I run a art curating business that has been adding to my already busy [non crack smoking] life. I wouldn't believe anything from someone with a name like "Tony Montana". Good joke though.

Jason - big fan of yours. You always do a great job and I can tell that you care about what you do because you actually take the time to clean the shoes first and pay attention to the small details (edge dressing), but these shoes appear to be made from shell cordovan. If so, you should not clean/shine them like regular leather shoes. Shell cordovan requires special attention. It's a very durable leather that require very little product. Using the wrong products can be damaging. Since I know that you care about your work, please look into how to care for shell cordovan so you'll be better prepared for next time. - A big fan and shell cordovan addict
@JasonDornstar7 жыл бұрын
Good eye, Sir. You are absolutely correct. I have heard this too. There's not much materials out there that I have found to care for shell cordovan. And I knew by making this video, it'd exploit the fact that I don't know what I'm doing with this specific type of leather. I have looked into getting a deer femur bone to help clean shell cordovan, but there aren't many places to find one. Until then, cordovan remains my weakness. Great advice though! Thanks for watching!
@wesleycrusher33397 жыл бұрын
Hey Jason - There is some conflicting information out there about cordovan and I've experimented with a lot of different products/methods. The easiest and one of the most effective methods is the "Mac Method". Basically, all you need is a bit of water and a whole lot of brushing! A bit of wax is also ok every once in a blue moon, but I've personally never needed to use it. A deer bone is great for smoothing out the rolls, but if you don't have a bone, you can use a small amount of product (I recommend Bick4 or Saphir Cordovan Creme) and the back of a metal spoon to smooth out the leather. Good luck and keep up the great work! I'm looking forward to some new videos in the near future. Please feel free to message me if you ever have any questions regarding cordovan!
@JasonDornstar7 жыл бұрын
Wesley Crusher Awesome advice! I usually only see 2 or three customers a year with genuine shell cordovan, but I want to work more with them. It seems like great leather, just a little more of a informed approach is always helpful with unique or exotic leathers. Cheers! Thanks for the information!

Jason...I have seen some shine vids, where before the person goes to the saddle soap, they use a hard hair brush to first clean off any dust residue and they also use a small folded piece of sand paper to dig in and go all around the sole area...is this really necessary?
