@@Filmboy24 I'm seriously considering a similar DIY take on your battery pack for my Canon 1014 XLs. Everytime a used Canon Power Pack 9V is listed on eBay it seems they're overpriced. Canon does, however, warn to use only their power pack on the camera to avoid damage. I think that's more of a marketing thing on their end. Power is power.

Congratulations Mike.Your passion for analog film is cool. Keep it up. Is that battery port on the Arri D-tap? I guess not. Sony NP-F batteries are 8,4V and there are a bunch of adapters waiting to be DIYed and hacked.
@Filmboy243 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I appreciate it!! Funny that you mention the D-Tap, as I looked deeply (well, for me anyway) into it prior to my first battery build. I'm pretty sure they are different, as the 2 pins on my Arri-S port are different in diameter and the D-Tap looks to be the same. The positive pin is a little larger than the negative. I only have my Arri-S and have never had any of the "newer" models (SR, etc.) to compare it to, so not sure when they changed it.
@RotarySMP3 жыл бұрын
@@Filmboy24 Yeah, after your video, I watched the one you mentioned, where the guy bodged up the cable from a cable witht the D-Tap hacked off, and the two crip connectors. Those older film cameras used some pretty funky batttery connectory. Look at Beaulieu's. NP-F are rated at 7.2V, but Lithium battery voltage drops as the run flat, so they are above 8 when charged.
@mems9103 жыл бұрын
Amazing! This is exactly what I needed!!! On a unrelated note, how do you keep your Arri's body looking so crisp? Moisturized almost! ha

@Filmboy243 жыл бұрын

Hi Mike, thanks for the video. I have an Arri 16s with the two original motors by Arri (one for variable speed and one for 24/fps) designed for 8v, as the magazine. I had made myself a battery with "D" cells 1,2v 10.000 mAh, but it's too big and no handable. Your solution work best, please can you send me the scheme for make battery with switch and plug for charger? I don't understand by the picture. And one question: the crystal motor you use, work well with 2800 mAh of your cells? I have read in the Arri's manual that the motor require minimum 3,5A (3500 mAh). Thanks 🙂🙋🏻♂️🎥
@Filmboy24 Жыл бұрын
Hi Giulio, thank you! Unfortunately, I don’t have a schematic for my battery packs, I only have pictures. The 2800 mAh batteries I used have worked just fine for me.

@Filmboy242 жыл бұрын
That's a great question.I managed to make a very inexpensive one that I used a little for framing but it was quite primitive. I improved on it a little with better lens, new housing, etc. but it's still just a quick, throw-together tap. I made a video of it a couple years ago. Hi Arlo, I got lucky and my camera came with the original cable (original Arriflex power cables are extremely difficult to find). Are 2 amps enough? The camera manual says 3.5 amps..
@Filmboy24 Жыл бұрын
That's a great question. I was worried about it at first, but I made a pack using 1 amp and it worked, so I figured 2 amps would be even better. I've gotten an average of 4-6 100' rolls at 24 FPS on one of these batteries, fully charged. I have my eye on some sub-c 3,800 mAh batteries now that I want to try. I'd love to get 3-4 400' magazines out of 1 charge, so we'll see.
