Thank you so much for the opportunity to get free information on how to improve in so many different media’s and ways, it is truly amazing. I’ve learned so much from the short amount of time I discovered this channel and I love listening to portfolio reviews while working on my own stuff. I don’t have a full portfolio yet but I’d love to hear some feedback on some pieces that I do have, could I get some info on how to submit things to you?
@artprof4 жыл бұрын
Hi! You can submit your artwork here to be considered for one of our free live art critiques: artprof.org/youtube-live-critique-submission-form/ If you'd prefer to purchase a portfolio critique, that info is here: artprof.org/purchase-a-portfolio-critique/ -Prof Lieu

I like the examples for artist's photo to include in the "About" section. I think I shared a good one of myself in my Facebook and Instagram story today. I may use that for mine.

just subscribed and am finding your videos so informative and you're so engaging! I'm a filmmaker looking to rebuild my website and find this really helpful. if you intend to keep recording these videos outside of the studio, I highly recommend using a separate mic (a yeti is a good quality beginner option) since it makes a world of difference for me as a viewer for clarity

KZbin occasionally puts commercials on without the permission of the channel. There seem to be more commercials than normal. I suspect you would be glad to know that the above normal amount of commercials makes your excellent and informative video difficult to watch.

I have a question about the text on the website. Is it oké to write short paragraphs in 3 languages? English,Spanish en Dutch.? Or just make the website in English.? My native language is Spanish, English is the language I prefer but I live in The Netherlands and my contacts are Dutch…😅😊
@artprof Жыл бұрын
That's a difficult question! Most websites can be put through translator apps now fairly easily, or you can add a website translation widget to your website with the three languages, but if that is too complicated, as long as you can keep the blocks of text short and visually easy to navigate, writing the paragraphs in each language yourself can work. -Lauryn, Art Prof Teaching Artist

Hi, thanks for the great lectures. Appreciate all the free info immensely. I subbed this week. I believe you suggested your own site to me through a FB group about Art. I was thinking to start an Etsy shop and sell my God's Eye wall hangings and my BTS fan art(sculpture/letter pieces). It looks like I was rushing things. So I am taking notes and going more slowly. I have 10 God's Eye almost completed and am currently working on my BTS pieces. I use my Whatsapp BTS fan group for feedback and that has been real helpful. Based on your suggestions it looks like I may need to make 20 BTS pieces to sell. Etsy does not have anything like what I am making so I'll have to use other fan merchandise as reference for my shop. My art site is on deviantart and does not have any current work there. So I have a lot of updating to do. Grimaces. Your lectures are fun and insightful. They are easy to understand. I have a BA in the Arts and was a sub art teacher for 4 1/2 yrs. i never thought I would want to sell my art. This is nerve wracking but exciting. Thanks again and see you around.- NY USA 💜

Excellent video Clara!! What is your advice on an artist 'downsizing' their online presence? Was working professionally but not in the past 3 years. Due to circumstances I may not work professionally again. My website and social media have been inactive but still visible online for that time.. Should I maintain these, leave them as 'legacy' sites or delete them? Should I add or subtract something from them? I am still paying for them but not sure what to do with them. Was a ceramicist but now dabble in oil painting and printmaking for leisure. I might occaisionally want to upload something for fun, not professional recognition, so do I re-engineer my website and media or start new 'hobby' sites and delete the old?
@artprof4 жыл бұрын
I think if the sites have been inactive for a while and you don't have any intention to return to making the type of artwork on those sites, then it's probably fine to delete them. I think if you want to occasionally upload, having an Instagram is a good option. A website is way more work to change, update than an Instagram, and Instagram can be set up super fast. Good luck! -Prof Lieu

I do scenic art and prop making for theatre along with fine art type stuff. Are these things too dissimilar to have on the same website?

Hi, I was wondering, should I mention in the " About" page that I started painting recently and never hold a paintbrush before. The main reason for creating my website is to sell. The mentioned statement, IMO, regardless of the fact do visitors ( if I have ones) like my art or not, makes them perceive me as an inexperienced and amateur artist ( which is true)..or should I just skip that part, thank you!
@artprof4 жыл бұрын
Hi! I think not necessary to tell people that you don't have a ton of experience. For some people that can influence whether or not they purchase your artwork unfortunately. So skip it! -Prof Lieu

@@artprof Thank you. Always interesting to read your thoughts on different topics. On the side note, I can put on the resume that I go to Art Prof School. On the serious note, maybe someday you will create an online art university ( you are doing this now anyway) with some kind of certificate at the end. I will enroll immediately, ....if free. And again, thank you for always listening.

A question. On my website I have paintings grouped together in landscape, flowers etc. Should I call them something else? Shopify uses the word 'collection' to categorise. Links are a big problem for me(among others ha)
@artprof4 жыл бұрын
I'd have to look at your website to give you an accurate answer, but if you have a ton in each category it would be better for landscape and flowers to be separate. We offer website critiques for a fee if you are interested: artprof.org/purchase-website-instagram-critique/ -Prof Lieu

Thank you so much for your videos! I find them so helpful and I'm grateful that I found this KZbin channel recently! I hope you don't mind me asking, but when setting up an artist's website, is it problematic to feature artworks of very different styles and subject matter, even if they are separated into different categories? In my case, for instance, I have traditional landscape paintings, religious Byzantine styled icons, mythological/fantasy pen and ink drawings, and intricate caricature paintings. Would that disrupt the cohesion of the website? Thank you so much!
@artprof4 жыл бұрын
Hi! Hard for me to say without seeing the artwork, it depends on whether they are different enough to distract from the other! Also depends on your goals and focus as an artist. We do review websites for a fee if you are interested: artprof.org/purchase-website-instagram-critique/ -Prof Lieu
