That looks awesome.... Not exactly sure what you did or DIDN'T do for the "clean-out" door.... I assume you did put one in, yes?

I can clean it out from the front. Easier that way.

Nice box BUT. Unless you have owls the size of an Eagle the opening should be much smaller as owls like a snug fit. It is important to have easy access to clean the box after the little ones have fledged, , a simple slide in as the base will suffice, this makes for easy cleaning of the debris. Finally an overhanging slanted roof will allow the rain to fall off to one side, not to the back where the water may get trapped between the box and tree, not to the front where icicles may form in winter and block the entrance but to one side or the other

Do you know of a good video or somewhere to get good opening dimensions for a owl? Also, when do owls ocupy the space and when do you clean the box out?

I was thinking the same thing… the opening is too large. But everything else about the nesting box is superb! 👍🏽
