Thank you for sharing; May you have a GoTo paint/brand/type for hand brushing car details? (i.e., engine, interior, shocks, etc.)?

I know this a long time later. But what did you clean the panel line with?

Hey, I thought you were painting the body with the yellow Vallejo? Then it seemed you switched to testors. What did I miss? Love the new intro.

Hey, I did exactly that. I wasn't satisfied with the result of the original color so I went to the testors (#1114) because it is the closest I could find resembling that crayola yellow. Yellow in my opinion is very tricky to get the correct color. The pigments aren't the best in yellows I've noticed and take many layers to always build up almost regardless of brand name. Hopefully that helps!

Now I understand. I would have never thought you could have put the enamel over the acrylic. Good to know.

Yep! Also, I painted that car last June 2018 and decaled it last month. Also polished it so it held up but the 1st decals didn't :S If you are ever in doubt, try it on test pieces of plastic first.

As long as the previous layers chemicals gassed off, you're fine. If you start sealing the previous paints that are uncured, problems will arise 100%. That crayola car has lacquer, acrylic, polish and enamel on it, all applied in layers over the previous cured layers. When I rust something, I add oil paints and pigments also to that layer structure.

Why do you wait a year.. to let the paint cure or some other reason?

Those hood decals were awful. These older kits definitely were a pain in the ass, but they got a certain charm to them. Great work nonetheless!
