100% the TS3 was consistent 330+ also he’s decked out in Adidas clothing who is teamed with Taylormade. He hit the TS3 maybe 3 or 4 times and then move onto the SIM and hit 6 or 7 shots. I don’t know if this was a fair comparison

I had a completely un-biased fitting. And ended up with the sim. Straight to the range when it arrived and managed one round before dooms day. LOVE IT! It was a massive upgrade for me, as I was using an original nike Sasquatch! Sound, feel, dispersion and the distance. Amazing! Thanks for getting content out still. Thank you for making an awesome video that helped me make a new driver decision myself. I had a very similar experience with a new driver just today. I had been using an older Taylormade Tour Burner and was still able to hit it quite well. Not anywhere near what you can hit but I was pleased with it. After having watched your video on the driver tests and also some others I decided to take the plunge and purchase last years M6 driver. I hit it today for the first time, and was absolutely shocked at the constant distance I was getting and how much straighter my off center shots were with the twist face and holy crap that speed injected foam is off the hook! I would say I consistently carried the ball 20-30 yards farther with the M6 than I ever have with my previous driver, in fact i don’t think i have ever averaged 230 + yards with any driver i have ever hit. I was fully ready to send it back if I didn’t see any noticeable gains but trust me the M6 is staying in the bag! Now i just need to get a new Winn Dri-tac intermediate grip installed due to my terrible arthritis and I feel like I will hit it even better and more consistent when I am holding the club with the level of grip I am used to.

I like the fact here, as much as in the last vid you definitely leaned towards the sim. But you really gave the TS3 every chance to succeed here but the Sim number for you were too good. The thing is, GC2 exaggerates distance on those sub 2000 rpm shots. Plug those numbers into Flightscope trajectory optimizer website, and you'll see those drives aren't that far apart. On a side note, I haven't seriously tested drivers in 3 years because I have a King LTD which I get ideal numbers with and has very high MOI for a low spin head, so I knew none of the newer stuff would really improve in any way. But I had the chance to hit the SIM and I experienced the same thing you did. The off center strikes always ended wayyyy better than I expected them. It was wild. I hate spending money on new clubs and always buy after a couple years but I may have to get one

Honestly Peter, this test really shows the differences between the two. The data -- the line, height, spin, and forgiveness on offline hits all show the Sim being the better one for you. The convincing part was when you'd turned both lofts down and head to head (lol - see what happened there :), the Sim proved continued control or repeatability. The Sim came out on top - consistent distance and trajectory... surprising how forgiving it is. Be Safe

Hey Peter, I recently changed from some new tech into an older driver going from the G410 Plus into the older Taylormade M5 Tour. I used to have the G400LST that was an absolute beast with the Tour 65X. I was about 15 - 20 yards shorter with the G410 than with my old G400 which was also set to 7.5 degrees. A tour pro took a liking to my G400 and gave me his G410 as a swap. Clubhead speed with the M5 is up 3mph, spin is down around 400rpm and I am hitting some bombs. It has the Hzardus Smoke 70 in 6.5. I'll probably look at the SIM and Mavrik in around 12 - 18 months perhaps.

Got me a Sim 8.0 degree and was super excited. Didn't hit it consistently and ended up getting an actual fitting. Kept hitting it like shit with insane amounts of spin. Dude brought me a Ping G410, hit it better, but then he brought a TS3...Bombs away. I love Taylormade but this TS3 was the go to to get me on the fairway and save me some shots.

I changed from the Callaway Rogue last year to the Ping G410 Plus......was VERY happy with my switch. It's a silly thing to say - I know - but the the Taylormade drivers really have never "looked" all that desirable to me. I think the SIM looks 'okay' but I like a nice black matte finish driver......I hope Taylormade might consider this in manufacturing future drivers. Just sayin'......but numbers don't lie - the SIM appears to be the most popular driver of 2020 from what I've seen so far.

It would have been really cool to get a similar shaft in each. Tensei Blue I think is designed to be a more mid/mid shaft and the lower weight probably is impacting that too. Pretty similar numbers might have been tightened up even more. I know you were fitted, but that was a long time ago (relatively). Either way, both awesome drivers.

@whitsmith12704 жыл бұрын
Pete, you have a super lightweight high spin shaft in the TS3. Put the same shafts with the same tipping in each club and the TS3 wins hands down.
@blert5964 жыл бұрын
Why would he put thatsame shaft on the SIM? If it works for the TS3 it probably wont be the perfect fit for the SIM. He's obviously been fitted for the best shaft for the TS3... the real test would be to get fitted correctly for the SIM and then go head to head. A proper fitted shaft could get him an extra 5 yards.
@whitsmith12704 жыл бұрын
blert596 The shaft in the TS3 is a 55 gram made for TITLEIST ck Blue. My point is it spins like a top and the difference in distance is spin related. TS3 is faster ball speed but spins a lot more. I’m assuming he is way faster now then when he was fit in that shaft.
@blert5964 жыл бұрын
Hi Whit, yeah I presumed he would be current with his driver shaft, especially after he's changing his swing as well. Point still remains though that he should get optimally fitted for both before going head to head with them. Unrealistic probably but a much fairer measurement. To be honest I'm biased towards the SIM as I just think it looks gorgeous - if it wasn't for this lockdown I have a bad feeling my TM M2 would have been traded in. Never really been keen on my M2 really. When testing I hit a Ping G400 better, but couldn't stand the view looking down at it :-)
@whitsmith12704 жыл бұрын

About a month ago I was given two Taylor Made TP5 balls with the triangle design to try out by a local retailer. My ball of choice is the Titleist Pro V1 and quickly I came to the realisation that the Taylor Made is considerably shorter off the tee with my Titleist TS3 Driver. It has a very clicky sound off contact with the clubface and even putter for that matter, it does surprisingly stop quickly around the greens, but for feel compared to a Pro V1 it is a rock, just nothing. Anyway having gone back to the Pro V1 I just think that if you really wanted to see performance out of a Driver Test, you should have gone with the ball that optimises rather than performs like a slug.

Maybe do a TXG style battle. Total distance of 10 drives that hit fairway (pick a hole on simulator) then minus the offline of each off then divide by 10 to give your average drive distance. Would give you your most accurate and longest driver.

Based on this specific test, were I in your shoes, I'd keep the TS3. My opinion is that 4.6 yards of carry difference is borderline negligible and total distance is (in my opinion) a pointless stat to consider when testing indoors. For my money, the TS3 has a slightly tighter dispersion and that would be the selling point. Personally I play the Cobra F9 that I won off a buddy of mine. I slapped it on my old shaft that had an F7 adapter, so I don't even know what loft I'm playing. It's been working great though so I'm not going to question it.

You should have gotten the heavier Tensei Blue to come a lil closer to the Diamana Black. The lighter weight may have been the cause of the extra spin and loss of distance. Epic strikes tho Pete!
