Far easier to build strength if we have the muscle mass to facilitate the strength gains 👊🏿

Thank you so much for making this video! Ever since I watched your pike push up videos I have been doing them and my shoulders have never looked bigger and felt stronger. but the handstand push up still feels far off for me. I just tried the one leg up thing and my god it was tough!!! I'm going to keep giving them a try and use these techniques

Nice video! As someone who can do Wall HSPUs this is what I suggest. Pike Push Ups. I suggest varying the difficulty by elevating the feet more and more. You can also try some variations that add extra ROM. I got the Wall HSPU simply by doing Pike Push Ups for a year, and slowly raising my feet more until I had the strength to hit the wall. Still lots of valuable advice here.

That is a good strategy to be fair. And your experience is why I love pike push ups so much - they just build ridiculous strength when done correctly 💪🏿

But he knows how to do it! Plus i'm pretty sure, he's a personal trainer. You did what worked for you. Seems like you are trying to school him when HE'S the professional. Maybe get your own channel and teach dude, it's condescending. You probably do crossfit, kipping HSPU's 😒 It took you a whole YEAR to get it 😭It doesn't take THAT long when you do it with the progressions he is teaching. You just proved you don't know what you're doing, then you try to teach him.... Really? I said what i said.

@@moovintruespace994 Umm okay. I just comment in Andrew Alinda’s videos whenever he posts and just wanted to say what worked for me, that’s all. Maybe I got my tone across wrong, in that case I can make sure to say it’s all personal experience, rather than definitive advice. A year for HSPUs isn’t bad? I could’ve gotten them faster if I used multiple specific exercises for it in my routine, but I simply just had one exercise, that I did consistently over a year, that gave me this. It’s reasonable and allows me to work on other goals too. It’s not deep. I also don’t do crossfit :P

I enjoyed this breakdown bro. As a person more into body building, so many people sleep on the handstand push up just because it looks a bit strange. But I don't know anybody who does them that doesn't have boulder shoulders or a solid upper back. Also l, Ioved the editing of the video

Wouldn't overhead press do a similar job? Though I also see that exercise getting neglected. It's pretty impressive to overhead press your bodyweight anyways. I'm doing 75lb for 10 overhead press and still can't do one wall leaning handstand so it's pretty hard. I can do a dozen chin-ups with strict form, though.

However, it is important to perform handstand push-ups with the correct technique to avoid injuries. Keeping the body aligned, elbows close to the body, and good core stability are essential for safe and effective execution. Incorporating handstand push-ups into your workout routine can help strengthen the muscles of the upper body effectively, contributing to a stronger and more balanced body.

Have you tried using rings? I mean, have you put your feet on the rings and mimic the chest to wall push up movement? As someone who never bail out from the wall properly, I think the rings are a great option.

i'm kind of an anomaly because i'm a beginner at calisthenics but i can do a few chest to wall hspu. i didn't know what a pike pushup was until about a year ago, and i haven't trained them much either. i think i had carryover strength from being a powerlifter eons ago. that being said, andrew's suggestions are very good, and not to be discounted. he is very good at explaining techniques and muscle involvement and also how to train. in summary: another great video, andrew. thanks for providing these tutorials, and showing us how to progress and use proper form.

Tbf I have seen what you can do and YOUR HSPUs look STRONG! 💪🏿 I think you definitely have many pushing movements in the bag (e.g. your quality elbow lever) so if your powerlifting past is augmenting that, then that's great! Keep gaining, Bruce 👊🏿💪🏿

love your videos bro. i have a question outside of the topic. i am programming an upper lower Split and i am wondering if i can program horizontal pull on my first day then vertical pull on my second day. thank you for your contribution
@CaliToTheCrowd
@CaliToTheCrowd 6 ай бұрын
No worries, and if you were going to split up your training like that, personally I would not do horizontal pull and vertical on back to back. If you're working intensely, I recommend leaving at least a day between (maybe you can work on push). The reason I say this is that horizontal and vertical pulling muscles are very similar and you might not get the recovery you're looking for. Good luck mate 💪🏿

When I do pike push ups and I film myself I always start with my feet on my toes to shift my weight forward, but in the rep when I go back up I always see my feet going backwards (so my weight goes back) I cannot seem to find a solution for this. Should I just regress the exercise? My bent arm shoulder strength is really my weak link in my training
@CaliToTheCrowd
@CaliToTheCrowd 3 ай бұрын
This is actually a common problem. I'd recommend placing your feet against a wall to limit the temptation to lean backwards. Feel free to drop me a video on Instagram DMs and I'll happily do a form check 💪🏿
