I just saw a video of an outpost fortress from a different creator, he used storage container foundations to create an indestructible wall and a funnel/bottleneck to get all them fuckers. Seems incredibly efficient. So you can focus all the defense to a single point. I've been trying to create an all-around defense kind of stronghold before, but the wall idea is just way better.

I've tried that idea, however, there's no way your building that all without mods to reduce build limit. It'll eat at minimum half your budget just to create the wall. Unless it is a very tiny base. Great idea, but without budget increase, console players won't be able to do it.

@@CurtisBuildsI hear you. Did you watch his vid? He explains how to do the foundation trick without mods, I actually have more containers on my own base than what he used for the wall. Looks decent too.

@@CurtisBuilds no he built one storage straight up then deleted the storage underneath it to make it foundation. Then he expanded the storage from the one at the top, so it's only 1 storage for each wall section. essentially a raised storage container.

I wonder if we can use shelves as walls mounted on top of mats placed down to form flat ground surfaces. That way it won't effect build limits and might be cheaper for resources.

May be tied to difficulty level and "cheats" on enemy AI side. Yet whenever I hack and make them friendly, they seem weak again.

@CurtisBuilds If you use the mod build and decorate anywhere you can take over the Deserted Bunker POI's as military outpost and build around it. The poi has security walkways that are on top of high walls that surround the whole place. A KZbinr by the name of Cornelius has done a video of what they look like called Starfield - Deserted Bunker, Rare POI. If you wish to use them or see what they look like. Another KZbinr by the name of StandardFries has two videos on how to take over poi's as outposts.

Seems like the forums are full of peoples games not registering outposts once put down you can never fly back for them to exist and don't show up in the crew outpost section.... yet oddly enough you can send a crew member there if you do so b4 taking off. Regardless it's a massive game breaking bug so hopefully they fix it soon

You can only put the small power generators on roofs, medium and big won’t go up there. But you can link power to power switches that can go on a roof 👍

I have 2 Solar Generators on the habitat roof at my base that powers the guns. It’s mostly the only habitable building there so far. Not sure why I even though to try putting them on the roof, but I saw the blank space and it worked.

Great video bro, and am definitely with you on the underwhelming effectivenes of turrets .. randomly found your channel (( and subscribed, some great content on there 😉 )) after I saw one of my turrets destroy 3 of my fabricators while i looked on in horror 😲 This happened as they opened fire on some friendly local wildlife, and was trying to figure out what was happening when 3 Ecliptic joined the party and took out my generator. Great fun ... 😒 You'd figure in the time of space travel and all things tech, they'd be sniper perfect and pretty darn painful to go up against ! ahaha. Saw a comment below of the idea to funnel the access points, and it does seem to be a viable option to fortify th eplace and have limited entry point. Take care, and all the best in the New Year !

I like to use a 2-Story Hub to go downwards, so lower lvl is near the ground, and attach my Airlock to the lower level. This way I have mostly only one flight of stairs to climb to get into my airlock.

How do you unlock enemy attacking your base? Mine never have anything happen to them

I have no clue, it just randomly happens. I've never experienced an attack in a settled system though. Guess UC protect the systems. But on outer worlds, I get attacked very often when I'm at my bases

My outposts very rarely have been attacked. In fact only twice over hundreds of hours. Both times was just a couple ecliptic from a ship that landed nearby. No need for serious defenses. If dont want to be attacked, dont use military habs.

They want to sell you the good turrets as part of a future DLC. Probably see larger sized ship guns then too. Maybe even a C class ship gun that does damage.

Bruh, stormtroopers are among the most elite soldiers in scify. They can have a 80% minimum accuracy before leaving cardia or they are forced to resign the stormtrooper corps and join the regular imperial army.

I just watched one of my outposts get attacked. It didn't go well. I have 6 mark 2 laser turrets assembled on the perimeter facing an landing site, and three security dogs. They all basically ignored the attackers, even when some where within in a round habs distance, in clear view. Of course the attackers were shooting perfectly at my reactors from MILES away lol. I wonder if the mark 3's detect better?

i put my 6 turrets on the rail around the top of the watch tower, not sure if they are too high or not yet, im on a barren moon so no animals to test and only seen 2 attacks but they were before i did the defenses.

I think it's ridiculous that Fallout 4 was 8 years ago and had VASTLY superior defenses to Starfield. I mean, we can't even build defensive walls/barricades/etc. It's one of the dumbest things about Starfield by far.

@@nickepley1373 It's what I do right now but it's a pita to make right angles due to no way to disable snapping. But it blows my mind that Bethesda didn't think we'd want to fully enclose/defend our Outposts while simultaneously creating a Raid mechanic that forces us to... defend our Outposts.

What's funny to me is I LOVED the fallout 4 settlement system, I spent actual months just messing with it and redoing entire bases. I'm starfield I'm loving the ship builder, I can see it quickly became the same thing as FO4 settlements for me. I absolutely HATE the outpost system, just building half the time is a pain and the other half is what's mentioned in the video, the guns are inaccurate. Seriously even FO76 had a better building system than this, not by much but it was at least less of a headache to use. I don't understand Bethesda, they fix small problems that people don't care about, break/remove things people actually like, or changes things that never needed changing to begin with

How do you get the windows placed in the structures, I use the Xbox X but can't see that option in my outpost builder?

Are the more turrets maybe more effective at ground level than if you put them on the top of the buildings, because the angle theyre shooting at/distance might be better? I put all my turrets at the perimeters of my outposts, instead of on top of the buildings. I havent gotten to see them in action tho

I built a tower, go on top of the tower and use console command to get my position, then use console command to move the turrets to respective position, then adjust angle.
