Enemy cell has a shotgun part and mines Tom, with a sniper: "I need to get in!"

There is something _deeply_ appealing about being a little modular bio-ship like this. It scratches a slightly different itch from the same sort of game when you're a spacecraft, and I'm not quite sure why - _but I'm here for it!_

It's pretty funny how the first phase of spore was so iconic and beloved and with every stage after that the game got steadily worse and less remembered

Space stage was pretty good? It was a weird one, though, and very much obtuse about it's deeper mechanics

Space was good, but it did a really bad job of explaining how things worked and what your goals were. City stage was... not great, it was SUPER undercooked for what it was and it didn't help that they effectively cut 1/4 of it out by giving you an insta-win button partway through - building and vehicle customisation was super cool though. Tribal stage was my least favourite, just go to a bunch of identical villages and do the same thing. Creature was the one I liked, you could make some awesome animals and (as a ~10 year old) exploring the planet and discovering things was awesome. But the cell stage was by far the best

I think the tribal and city stages are the ones most people forget about or don't care to remember, but cell, creature, and space were pretty good. Space got a lot of love in expansions too, so that's a part of it.

I mean it's kind of the only stage that did anything unique. Every other stage was pretty much just a dumbed-down version of existing game genres. Not to mention the cell stage was the one where the novel evolution mechanics mattered the most; heck, after the creature stage, evolution meant nothing at all.

I remember refusing to advance in cell stage and just swimming around and stabbing all the other cells to death. I liked creature stage a lot too though. I spent a lot of time making creatures and, again, running around and killing or befriending other creatures. I had a lot of fun with all the functional parts, particularly the wings, because I found the flight super fun. Of course, this was all when I was super young, so I'm not sure what I'd think of it now. The rest of the stages I didn't enjoy too much. I'd pretty much always either refuse to advance in cell / creature stage, or just restart as soon as I finished them. I only actually beat the game a handful of times. I also liked Galactic Adventures as a kid, but again, I was a kid and I don't really remember it, so I'm not sure how I'd feel now.

Looks cool, but really short for $18. Thought it was going to be one big infinite level like a bullet heaven, which could really work for this concept.

Hi Tom quick question I was wondering about your merch store I used the link and it takes me to the yogscast store so I was just wondering if you have and merch dedicated to you. I saw you wearing a poo lagooner t shirt and was wondering if it’s still available somewhere :) many thanks James

I love the Leech zoid in this it might not be super good but if you can make a small compact leechfilled entity and just get in tehre around an angle with minimal danger, you can do some real damage, in like a week. I like to use those blue(?) guys that shoot bombs as a base and then add leech as my starting adaptation

Daily reminder that Tom is an amazing person and to thank him for all he has done/will do - Day 1521 Oh this is fun, no idea what this genre of game is called, Top Down 2D Segmented Spaceship Roguelike XD, but damn do I enjoy it. This being no exception, loving the Microecosystem theme of it, indeed did enjoy the first section of Spore alot when I played, so fun to have a game about that :D 5:07 Everything eventually becomes crab XD Really enjoyed this, would love to see more as Tom said he has done a few runs
