I have just compleated the base along with part 80 and i have to say that hachette didn`t think this through in regards to where we would put this. The base is way too big to put it and as such it`s a shame too because i think we would all like to see it fuilly compleated along with the banking motion but on a smaller stand and i`m sure that this could be done. One more comment is at the moment all the wires that are coming out of the model and the space left it is going to be a squeeze connecting them to what i think will be a main board. Like you mentioned i`m not going to be putting the model on the base purley because i don`t have the space, but i am looking forward to compleating this model. Enjoyed the video again. Thanks Steve

Wow. That base is absolutely huge. I thought the base would have been half the size of what ii is. I am so glad I cancelled my subscription at the start as I just would not have had the space to display the Spitfire as it is meant to be. Nice to see the look of surprise on your face Wayne.

Hello Wayne that's so nice the display base and spitfire famous fighter plane. Nice work on this spitfire MK 1a nice looking base and plane. I like spitfires good fighter planes fought against the luftwaffe in the battle of Britain. I enjoyed this video that's so cool. 👏👍🤗🙂☺️😁😀⭐🌟 My favorite fighter plane besides the other fighters. Love aviation very much. I watched about the spitfire was interesting. Besides the Hurricane MK 2 and Tempest and Typhoon fighters Royal Air Force. How many aircraft have been built during the war was a lot of planes.

Like most people have said the base is far to big. Where on earth would you be able to put it. Plus with the weight of the plane aswell it's gonna be hard to move it around. I am disabled so i will probably not be able to move it around. I have just started building the base, once completed i will look into trying to make it smaller, if it's possible to do it. Will have to wait and see.
@stuartgadsby87833 жыл бұрын
Hi Wayne do you just have the one smaller bracket for connecting the side panels to the base please?
@robt85933 жыл бұрын
No wonder they've interrupted the Spitfire build with this base before the plane is complete. There'd be a massive drop off if they left this until the end. Undoubtedly good functions with the flying and sound functions but why not make it half the size? I'm thinking of laminating my one with some nice veneer to get rid of the black plastic :)

the base could have been improved if they had used metal strips to cover the gaps between the boards instead of just washers under the bolts. as for the size and the gliding, I'm sure someone is gonna make a hanging base you can bolt to the sealing with pules that will tilt it up and down.

I missed out on this build and would have probably gone for it had I not. However, in hindsight I'm glad I didn't and am really enjoying the Porsche 917 build. However, I would have halted the subscription (if that is possible) and not bought the base, escpecially after watching your build, and then re-subscribed for the remaining boxes to continue the Spit build. The size is ridiculous, but the quality and the horrible plastic sides are worse. I'd use your suggestion for a mount and forgo the animated movements.

seems overly complicated for a base and surprised the nuts are on the top. Cant wait to see how it works out
@aragonsommer76493 жыл бұрын
Actually, from what I can figure out, the nuts on the underside of the wooden panels are the under face of the base. The Spitfire & diorama will be on a surface yet to be installed above the currently open side with all the gubbins & dynamic pistons/machinery to give the illusion of flight contained below/inside.

Hey Wayne. I desperately need your help. My Spitfire build is up to Issue 70 and my wife decided to put it in the cupboard "out of the way". In the short time it was in there one of the propellers has snapped off at the spinner. Other than divorce, can you suggest anything to help me fix it. Is it possible to reverse engineer it without spending 100 quid on the early issues? Is it possible to weld or solder, or will I be better off using metal glue or epoxy? Any help would be massively appreciated. Love your channel. Cheers

I still haven't seen a finished product or anything. I love all those models but I never see what one looks like all bunch of bits and pieces all of it is look the same. Got see the progress and one of finished product. If somebody's been following you for months playing with those screws and nothing bolts you should spend like 10 minutes 10 or 15 minutes on the finished product that you finished.
