Here is an inside look on how I have my truck setup for hunting. Having a truck cap on your truck is mandatory in my opinion. The ability to be mobile and move locations without much effort, while still having a dry place to sleep is huge part of us finding success on public land. You can lock crucial gear, keep gear, dry, and also have a comfortable place to sleep. Please subscribe to the channel and leave your thoughts below.

VERY IMPRESSIVE!! I would never have thought you'd need to have mousetraps for your truck but then it totally made sense once you described the challenge of leaving your truck during your hunt only to return and find there are little critters that have worked their way into your cab. I also especially love the use of a drawer system that locks so that expensive items like rifles, etc. can be secured even more while you're away from your vehicle. I hope you have a lot of fun with that rig and on your trips!!

A buddy and I used to use a similar setup in Alaska for hunting up off of the Dalton Highway (haul road). We did 1x6s across the top of the bed rails and then had all our gear underneath....tighter sleeping quarters but it worked well and you could just leave your bed set up.

Nice setup. Vehicle camping is way better than tent camping if you're close to the rig.

Awesome video! Great vehicle setup for your gear! Wondering what you use for heat though? We use our RV as home base when we are out hunting but this is something to think about as well for those quick weekend hunting trips.

I have a tundra double cab with a canopy/topper. I had a sleeping platform and I got sick of crawling in and out of it. I much prefer a ground tent. The only downside is having to air it out at home. Other than that, I find it WAY more comfortable. Cheers!

Very cool setup. If you're on a longer hunt and end up having meat to store, but still need space to sleep...how do you do that? Also, what are you using for power and heat?

anyone who sees this and isn't specific on what brand truck they drive look into the Ram series. Most of their models have a fold out bench on the back row that doubles as a bed...it would be a perfect addition to sleep a third person on a back country hunting trip

Hey, great video and demonstration, by far in the top tier of what ive been seeing on youtube now a days. I have a few questions about your cargo system (badass BTW!). I know you have a campershell on there, but do you know if you can park an ATV on it? the site says evenly distributed up to 2000lbs, i was just wondering if you knew first hand How is it attached to the bed of the truck itself, i dont imagine it just sits there thanks to good ol gravity the site also says dust and mist can enter the cargo area, are we talkin a LOT of dust or.. i mean i know its hard to give a quantity but... any input would be appreciated. they dont even make one for my truck but i imagine they will in the future, and if it can hold an ATV im getting one

I know yours is an old post, but others might have this same question. In my experience, the biggest entry for dust is around the tailgate and rear window ,where it seals with the tailgate and shell body. Makes sense cause the dust billows up behind the rig on those gravel/dirt roads! First thing to seal and you may not need anything further.

I'm wondering how the sorttoppers would be for this type setup. They can be folded forward out of the way of bed for hauling taller items. I'm trying to figure out a good camping setup that is comfortable at a permanent spot but leaving the vehicle mobile for spike out camping/hunting. But still have the whole camp able to be packed up in about a half hour. And not spend $30k or more on a trailer. Need to get extra crap out of the cab. Rifles and bow will be in cab, I won;t put them in the bed even if in the Decked drawers.

That tow rope is garbage, get a better strap dude. You can get a 12 volt power outlet for inside the topper so you can charge things. Even a small fan or small reading light. Even better would be an inverter.
