Build this Catamaran for under $3,000 in TWO MONTHS! Part 4

Hello everybody! If you haven't noticed, we have taken a bit of a break from KZbin recently. Needless to say, we have been a little bit busy.
We sold our center console last year and we missed being on the water. We tried to find something reasonable on the market but, as most of you know, nothing is reasonable in the boating world right now. Carl had a fleeting idea, and well, if you know us... those ideas usually come to fruition. We started this build in mid April 2022 and completed it at the end of June 2022. It is constructed from Kingspan insulation foam, epoxy resin and fiberglass. It took at lot of work in a short amount of time but we believe it was absolutely worth it. We have taken our vessel to coastal waters in 2-3’ waves and it behaves superbly. It is a very stable platform. Unfortunately we are just entering winter here so we are out of the water until spring. Thanks for watching 😊

Great job! What are the specs--LOA, Beam, weight?

LOA is 16’. beam 8’. weight is estimated at 250-300lbs. 9.9hp long shaft Yamaha pushes it through the water at 10-12 mph. Burning 1 gph of gasoline. Super stable fishing platform. Thanks for watching 😊

Just curious - in the shot from behind in the lake, it looks like the cat is back heavy. I understand that the motor may make it appear as if it is lower, but that's my ask...if you were to do it over would you make the cats longer over the back end to compensate?

Yes we could have shifted the platform forward a little bit more. Or widened the hulls a bit more in the aft end. Although it is back heavy it rides like a dream. Thanks for following along 😊

We had thought about putting a sail, but for the leisurely boating we were looking for, it didn’t seem practical at the time. There is always an option for it in the future 😊 thanks for following our journey.

Yes there were some points of the small boat build that we could have put more effort into. The idea was to get on the water fast and safely. For a home made design “Interim” doesn’t disappoint. There may be a few blemishes and things that could have been designed differently. But we are satisfied with the results. Thanks for watching 😊
