You did a great job designing and building this plane. We in the hobby appreciate what you have done. Its not easy designing and building an RC plane, let alone making a video. I am not an expert at any of it but know enough to help others save money by giving people tips on how to get into the hobby. Any time someone can save money and get into the hobby, they can enjoy what they have done because its something they have done. Anyone can buy a ready to fly airplane if they have the money. Ignore those people that send you negative comments concerning your design and build. Those people have nothing better to do and couldn't design a soup can telephone on a string. Its a great hobby and hopefully many people have tried your plane.

I really enjoyed watching this video. Like a combination of plane builder and designer. Great job! I fly a ready made foam plane and have been amazed at the level of repairs that have been possible yet it still flies perfectly. My plane did not include your fancy landing gear design. I don’t think it has rolled truly straight for dozens of flights (this is tricky for take off but perhaps worse for landing because it is like applying vast amounts of braking force when it touches the grass at which point it would nose over and put the rudder into the turf). I plan to make a new gear support soon, meanwhile I have learned that a bit of throttle at touchdown keeps it on its feet. I hope to build up the confidence to try this design! Thank you for explaining each step with video showing the details!

Today printed your plan, started to build. Impresive. Very solid, simple, and well thought plan. Have suggestion wings are ~53 cm, but lot of people buying foam in 50 x 50 cm, it is used for ceiling, cheap to buy. If plane were 10% smaller, would be easier a bit. Another thing, have you tried to print plan on sticker? That way probably would be a bit faster, because, you can instanstantly cut sticker and foam.

You have some nice design ideas I haven't seen in other foam board planes. Flies nice and slow. The problem is that for beginners, crashes are inevitable and foam board compresses and creases easily, usually resulting in major damage to the front of fuselage, wingtips, and tail structure. Though the materials are cheap, there's a lot of labor involved, and seeing my nice plane significantly damaged on the first flights is disheartening. Can you figure out how to make it a lot more resilient?
@Joyplanes3 жыл бұрын
Some more reinforcements can be added but takes a bit more work.
@Mailzas2 жыл бұрын
You can buy foam, paper sandwitch, it's very strong, or you can make it yourself, just glue stronger paper to both sides of foam. Or some people add scotch after build.
@Dingleberriesalad Жыл бұрын
I've found in my first build of one of these larger joytrainer planes that you have room to add some weight by reinforcing some areas with thin hard types of wood. I've also found that when I have a hard crash it's easy enough to cut a piece off that broken and replace it with a new piece just glue it in and tape over it. I've had some hard landings and caused some severe damage. Took me a pretty short amount of time to repair in all cases. And repairing your model is kinda part of the fun in my personal experience.

FT is No.1 ,Its Not bad but FT very very nice and Perfect.
@scottfirman4 жыл бұрын
Not all FT planes are great. I have had to modify all the ones I made. Usually the angle on the firewall is not right and doesn't take in account the forces that make the plane want to turn left upon take off. Not one of their plans compensate for the issues involved. That being said, foam board is cheap so its easy to fix any issues with these planes. He does a great job on this plane and his design is pretty interesting concerning the curve of the wing instead of using the methods used on all of the FT plane wings.
@scottfirman4 жыл бұрын
Perfect? Have you actually built one? I have built two different models and both required modifications to fly. The angle of attack on the motor on both of them was off, I had to pull out the fire wall on the Tiny Trainer and readjust it. On the Simple cub, I had to add washers on one side so fix the bad tendency it had to bank severely to the left and down too much. No ,Flite Test planes are not perfect. If you listen carefully to Josh B, he even mentions making corrections or hints is more like it. Every RC plane requires adjustments eather through the transmitter or mechanically to make them fly better. There is no perfect RC plane.
