some info. 1) paperclad foamboard is HEAVY. in Most cases, its use results in tail-heaviness in the dom. distribution of mass. 2) overall heaviness/auw leads to a need for 'more' wing area/lift. minimum wingspan should be, say, one yard/meter. (mitigation of both is possible; via the use of panel cutouts. but No one ever does it.) 3) consider whether the price of a simulator would be 'worth it'. especially, if you live where the weather is frequently not great for flying. 4) a novice pilot can spend a Lot more time flying/smiling, if he chooses the right type of model (to learn on). that being, a light-weight, three-channel slow-flyer. such a model must have a dihedral main wing, in order to avoid the need for ailerons. while there are some manufactured models that will fly slowly, the main wing may not have enough dihedral, to allow the use of rudder-initiated turns. two examples of a slow-flyer. cheers googletranslate kzbin.info/www/bejne/oouUp4iBmNCnjM0 kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKmzkKp6mpmIhtE

Understand this tutorial is over two years old. Thank you very much for your great work. This is my first ever build. I finished this build and made a few modifications as I went. 1. I mounted some 3mm hardboard 55mm wide and 150mm ling on the inside of the top of the fuselage, under where the wing is. I then inserted two small wall plugs. The wing is held down very securely. The wing is removed by two screws (and washers) and looks better than rubber bands. 2. I shortened the nose and then added a tapered nose with a hole for the propeller shaft. Then added a nose cone. Better aerodynamics and l think looks better. 3. After creating the dihedral, I bent a 2.5mm x 15mm x 150mm piece of aluminium flat to the shape of the dihedral. With washers under the wing and sandwiched to fix the dihedral with much greater strength. The added weight is absolutely minimal. 4. I also looked up how to program my new flysky i6 to have flaperons. Fantastic. 5. I made the landing gear from a piece of aluminium, 80 mm front wheels and 30 mm tail wheel. For the battery, I have used a 3500mah, 4S, 50c with a 30amp ESC and 1000kva brushless. The power is fantastic. Would be good to share some pictures but do not know how. After never flying an Rc plane before, I highly recommend this build for a beginner. Thank you.

El motor es de 2300 kv de 1 kg de empuje y la batería es de lipo de dos celdas, mi duda es si usando una hélice tal vez de 10 pulgadas pueda tener suficiente empuje para elevarse.

I use Owen's Foam Board to make my planes. You can glue the plans directly to the foam board using 3M 77 Spray adhesive. After you are done, just remove the plans from the foam board. I took a sock and filled it with sand as a weight to hold my folds after hot gluing. The type of hot glue gun sold on Flite test but purchased through Amazon( cheaper) is the best for doing foam planes. This is a good basic plane and easily repaired. It reminds me of the Apprentice in size. Bigger planes are easier to fly. The internet is FULL of great deals on all your electronics. Watch for USED equipment if possible. You can get a good used transmitter for $50 or less. I like this video but pay attention to what kind of wire you use for servo, controls. The wire shouldn't bend at all when actuated. Flite Test would approve of these plans!
@Joyplanes4 жыл бұрын
Yes, the wire is important, I use the thin one that bends, I have a very strong one but is so strong that I cannot bend it in small portions, I'll have to use the adjustable linkage for these.
@scottfirman4 жыл бұрын
Are you failure with the Z bend ? It works great and you don't need a special tool. My first foam build was the Flite Test Tiny Trainer. It was a better glider than powered by a long shot. I made 4 of them and ended up modifying it as a pusher. I am finishing the Simple Cub right now. That should be a good flying plane. If you need any HELPFUL advice, let me know, also I am willing to share any info I may have. You are doing a great job and I subscribed to you.

@@Joyplanes The screw type servo control connectors work well then, at least you do not have to be so precise. I still have a few but usually have good luck making the Z - bend. I have gotten wire that actually snapped when trying to bend it. Someone hardened it off. If you have a hand torch, you can heat that type of wire to make the metal soft enough to bend. Even a gas stove will work. I almost rammed the wire through my hand when it snapped. That can make you use choice words when that happends

?????? main lg PARAMETERS. the main lg struts, of a taildragger, should be tall enough that the Prop does not strike the ground, during ground maneuvering. strut height should maintain prop clearance (on the ground), if the attitude is very Slightly, nose-down, also. the use of taller struts will increase the sto traits, of the airframe. btw, the WINGTIPS Should Be Finished !!!! i suggest you ponder These questions. WHY do you boys Think it is a good idea to copy an ANCIENT Design??? WHY do think it is a good idea to have stol traits built into an airframe.!!! as to the second question, it should be understood that when stol traits are built-into an airframe, they CANNOT be 'turned off'. in other words, those traits are ALWAYS There, Always affecting flight behavior !!! you boys who make models of ANTIQUE stol designs, end up with a model that is Not versatile (in the air) !!! googletranslate
