I have many old Muscle and Fitness magazines with The Maryland Muscle Machine gracing the covers. He was the last of a dying breed-a bodybuilder with a "wasp-like" waist. No bloated belly for Kevin Levrone. The fact that he should have won the Sandow a few times but didn't; he never let that effect his love for bodybuilding. He remained an ambassador for the sport long after retiring. That's the heart of a Champion!

Yates wasn't pleasing to the eye but he was the first mass monster that came into the era ...hes the first to come in with that insane grainy look , his back , calves , forearms were insane .... I never liked his look either ...but if you want to hear facts ,here is a fact ...Nobody had seen anything like him till the date he arrived on the scene ....now that is a true Fact !!! Injuries for him were inevitable....a result of his insane work ethic ... love him or hate him he still ruled the nest for the time he spent in the race ... As for politics... The Olympia is riddled with it like most sports sadly ... There were some Sandows he most certainly deserved ... his torn bicep condition I agree was questionable...but you have got to remember the result is judged on mandatory poses and not what your total package is ...or else Flex ,Levrone and Ray would have had the title ... Flex probably more than any with those insane lines. .. take care .. 🤝
