Great tutorial. For the formatting, you can probably provide a template of the expected output in your instructions (and also instruct the agent to use HTML formatting, adding for line breaks, bullet points for unordered lists, etc.). Talking Code with LLMs usually works great.

Thanks Lisa, this is a really helpful video - and your genuine conversational style makes it much more enjoyable to watch and easier to digest. A good choice to leave all that stuff in, thank you. For a future video, I would find it very useful to see your workflow for setting up an agent to support staff in a large organisation to interrogate a large file repository of information on a sharepoint. For example, at the college I work at, both the HR department and the Quality department have large shared folders with processes, procedures and files - these can be difficult to navigate and find specific information. I wonder if a Copilot agent could be pointed to the sharepoint folder and given instruction to search this and provide a summary of the relevant information and a link to the correct file source? Perhaps having this published to our college Teams would provide an easy access to this? Excited to continue along this journey with you! Niall

Hi Lisa, thank you for such a fantastic video which explains autonomous agents in a very easy to understand way. Regarding the formatting of automated email responses. I was wondering if you could add another document in your knowledge sources, say called "formatting a customer email", with the rules of how you want them to look; e.g. always have a blank line after the initial greeting in the body" etc. etc. and then in the instructions for the agent, mandate that it refers to this knowledge when writing the email. I would be interested to know if this works.

Fantastic video, Lisa! Quick heads up- to get the e-mail response use HTML formatting, just add an instruction bullet point "When creating an e-mail, always format it in HTML." It works like a charm. Also, you can have it add a signature with another instruction: "Use the following signature for all outbound e-mails: Best Regards, AJ Ansari". I also add instructions around time zones and date/time format to use when it has to use them in a response. Hope this helps!

This is a great video. Many thanks Lisa. I have already done that and it is working well. You can add the text HTML to the line in the instruction section to send the HTML formatted email just by adding the text "write an HTML email" to the line in the Instruction section instead of just "email". Ex: Use the action Send an Email to write an HTML email response

Hi Lisa, happy holidays . excellent video thanks!. I tried creating an agent that will return answers based on a KB that is a sharepoint word document. The agent returns the correct answer but I want it to also return a link to the section in the doc where it took the info from. However whatever i write in the instructions, it keeps returning a link that when clicked, downloads the entire document. Do you have any idea what prompt would make it return a link to the relevant section instead (there's a TOC based on heading styles at the beginning of the doc that i am referring the agent to but it's not helping).

For autonomous agents you need Copilot Studio, which is a tenant license of $200/month/25k messages, or there are pay as you go options. With the $30/month Microsoft 365 Copilot license you can build agents from inside Microsoft 365 Copilot - that's shown in this video - it's a much more restricted experience - kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGKUdnqKlJerb8U

Fixed this issue and all now good. Next trick is to fix the email format as mine contains 24 numbered bullet points of things the agent has recommended the user do but they all flow together without a line break after each bullet point! 😂 Original comment: My email receipt trigger works fine and it generates the wording of the email within the agent's response being the answer to a question in the trigger email, but it fails to then send back an email. I note the activity display does not show any activity, the send email action is as per your example, any suggestions on what to check?

I would suggest to add HTML formatting guidelines in the instructions, telling for instance the agent to use for unordered lists (bullet points). You can even provide templates of expected outputs. Use Tags for Formatting: : Wrap paragraphs of text. and : Create bullet point lists. and : Create numbered lists. : Add a line break. : Make text bold. : Make text italic. text: Create clickable links. Structure the Email: Start with a greeting in . Use for sentences or blocks of text. Use or for lists. End with a closing message in . Examples Example 1: Welcome Email html Copy code Hi [Name], Welcome to [Company]! Here’s what you can look forward to: Exclusive updates Special offers 24/7 support Have questions? Contact us. Cheers,[Your Name] Example 2: Meeting Invite html Copy code Hi [Name], You’re invited to discuss: Topic 1 Topic 2 Date: [Date]Time: [Time]Location: [Location] Let us know if you can join! Best,[Your Name]

It was a great video and introduction. For the next videos please go deeper with the advanced options like Sharepoint permissions to use it as the knowledge based for internal and external user. I am wondering why you limited the subject to a specific wording? Couldn't you use the instruction and have AI detects the subjects related to return? or even if the subject was not clear, use the body of the email to detect the request? Also, your email is in your website an it's easy to guess LOL
@LisaCrosbie

I’m working on content using the SharePoint connector although that will only ever work for internal authentication. I limited the subject to a specific wording because I wanted to keep this beginner tutorial as basic as possible, really focus on the concepts and building blocks, but you don’t have to restrict by subject line and I’m going to do more sophisticated things next. I know my email address is public and everywhere but I have had KZbin take down previous videos because their AI detects a real email on the screen so I’m not risking that again!

Okay, a REALLY basic question! sorry if I have missed other videos :) For Copilot studio I am guessing a company would need at least a Copilot license? i.e. not part of the existing Microsoft 365 license? It might have changed, but wasn't it something like $200.00 per month? I seem to recall you might have mentioned a pay-as-you-go plan? Do you have any of the basic costs for getting started? I work with quite a few smaller companies (some medium) and this is a really excellent way forward but might be outside of the budgets for some. But thank you as always for the great detailed videos!
@LisaCrosbie
@LisaCrosbie Ай бұрын
If you have Microsoft 365 Copilot that includes using Copilot Studio to extend Microsoft 365 Copilot without needing another license. However if you want to build standalone or external facing agents like this you do need the Copilot Studio license (you can buy this separately without needing the M365 Copilot). It’s not cheap so you do need to find the high value use cases to make it worth it. (I think I need a while video just on this!)

Just curious why we can't change it, or why i cant create my own power automate from scratch and call this action. I want to accept an http web request to call the copilot agent. Please shared if you have more insight on this feature

If you want to create using Power automate from scratch there is now an option there to call a generative action, which might be the solution you are looking for. All these things are so new, still working through when it's best to use what. Not being able to change the trigger in Power Automate as shown here is most likely a temporary glitch with preview feature, it is definitely set up to look like you should be able to edit it.

How do you train it to use dataverse table data in conversation. It just answers random wrong answers in my testing

I'm working on Dataverse content for next year - it makes a big difference if you use the synonyms, glossary, descriptions when you set it up. What is your scenario / data tables and what kinds of questions are you asking?

How do you make a trigger that can identify that it concerns a returns request without the customer having to use a specific subject? In real life I can imagine that not everyone uses the same subject title.

I imagine you would likely create rules in outlook/email client to identify keywords and phrases that has a forwarding rule that sends the email to the email address your connecting to copilot. Additionally, you could recommend to the internal business team (eg Customer Service or Returns) to approve the creation of a custom email that can be provided to customers as a “direct line” to returns, used for forwarding emails from the current email, AND be directly connected to this copilot. Hopefully, the new email will gain adoption due to its relevance to the customer - reducing the volume going to the original email address. Driving customer experience and reducing time to resolution. If not, the forwarding rules will still be in effect ensuring your process still works.

@ I’m not sure if I’m quite following it. I understand the part of creating a flow that identifies and categorizes incoming emails and forwarding the email to the copilot’s email adres. The second part I don’t think I understand

Even though I added my domain email, it is not letting me sign up. What can be done?

You need to sign up with a Microsoft “work” account which means you need a Microsoft 365 business license. If you don’t have one you can sign up for a M365 trial and use that email address here.

Is it possible to change the display name to something different when sending emails instead of displaying the person's email name who created the AI Agent ? . I tried but could not find any solution yet.

I haven’t tried it yet with a different inbox but it should be able to send it out from the email name and address you choose. There will be a way to change that in the action. I’m still working through it all, thanks for the question.

I work for a bank and want to automate the scanning of new regulations using RSS feeds. I want to auto populate a SharePoint and notify people via teams. Can an AI agent do this?

There is an option to connect Copilot Studio to Microsoft Fabric, that may be a way to do it, but I haven't explored that yet.

It's pretty funny how this is big news in Microsoft town. It's been doable for a loooooong time with tools like Zapier, n8n etc. The clunkyness of both Copilot and Power Automate is infuriating to work with. But a las we have to...
