Great project. I am planning to make some for my shop. If I may suggest your next video a comparison of which type of shard does the most damage to your eyes - an aluminum spiral like the one on your bench after you drilled the holes, or wood splinters from the saws? "Be sure to read understand and follow all safety instructions.... and there is no more important safety tool than these safety glasses."

Yawles - I can tell you from experience that the spiral metal shavings hurt a lot worse in a finger... and you’re right safety glasses should always be worn in the shop. 👍

Cool clamps! I like that green hammer. I've seen those on Leprechaun's tool belts ;^) How did you get it from him?

Thanks! I’m going to be honest with you, leprechauns are really hard to catch. There isn’t any tricks to it... You just have to get lucky. 🍀😉

Where do you find aluminum bar stock and aluminum dowels? Also, how do you cut it (what kind of saw, blade, etc.)? Thanks!
@WoodsmithShowandmagazine4 жыл бұрын
The aluminum bar stock and Rod is commonly sold at hardware stores and home improvement centers. Soft metals like aluminum and brass can be cut safely and easily by most woodworking tools like a table saw or chop saw (a hack saw would work too.) ***Note: If you are using a SawStop table saw to cut aluminum, temporarily disable the safety mechanism or the aluminum will trigger it.***

@@WoodsmithShowandmagazine Thanks. If I were to use, say, a table or chop saw, do I need to use a special blade?

Bill Camara - You can purchase special non-ferrous metal cutting blades but if you only need to make a few cuts a standard blade should work just fine.

how does the sliding clamp stop sliding when you pull the lever, can you explain the physics behind it ?

Hi folks, I have tried to find the details for this project by following the above link and it does not appear amongst the selection. I then decided to trawl my way through all 38 screens of rhe Shop category and still did not find it. Maybe you could have another look and see what has gone wrong. Thanks.

These Cam Clamps are indeed part of the 5 Shop-Made Clamps plan that are being linked too, but there are only 4 preview pictures for the plan so it doesn’t show everything included. You can see the pattern for the second preview picture. Sorry for the confusion. www.woodsmithplans.com/plan/5-shop-made-clamps/

@@WoodsmithShowandmagazine I know this reply was to a comment years ago. When I clicked on the link to this video it starts playing when you are about to assemble the clamps... It starts at the 2:57 mark in the video. I'm not sure why that is, but it does. Here is the last part of the URL for the video - lOYW8Xyb0sY&t=177s. I hope that helps.
