The fact that you built your own watch with your own hands, that alone puts a lot of value into the watch! great end result too!

Plus, it's a huge bragging right when someone ask about your watch or say that it's not a Rolex. With the biggest shit eating grin in your life, "Yeah, but I built the watch myself and customized it further. How about you?"

Very cool video. Well done on building your watch Taylor. I am a watch repairer & service quartz watches a fair bit, so just a little helpful tip. When fitting the hands I tend to kneel on the floor so that my eyes are level with the table. I can then look across the watch dial & hands I'm fitting, rather than looking from above.

One thing that's worth noting, the skx007 you mentioned... may not saphire crystal for 350 (my quick check saw sapphire priced quite a bit higher), and last I checked they still used the 7s26 movement (they may have changed in the new re-issued seiko 5 line, but I haven't seen if they started re-releasing the diver line yet?). the nh36 movement used in the kit is the more advanced tech. The water resistance check, however, is probably really worth being suspicious of vs buying new.

That is a brilliant product. Not something I would do but learning about these things is so much fun. I saw you struggle with the hands. It makes you realise just how skilled you have to be to do these things. It made me think twice about how those really cheap watches don't reward the people putting them together enough. That's the thing I learned. Thank you.

I looked through their site a bit and I have to be honest, I am a little disappointed in the lack of options. Ya it is cool to “make your own watch”, but that is only half of the appeal to watch modding. The other half is make a watch that is customized to your tastes and has your own unique flair to it. The stainless bezel was really the only visual option I saw on their site that would fit with the dive watch

DIY watch club costs WAY to much. I have priced out building a frankenwatch with an ETA movement for less than $150. DIY watch club, you can not get a kit for less than that, they are all $200 and up.
@kristiyan953 жыл бұрын
Ohh, wait. I was thinking this is really cool until I realized you only build the face the hands and the ''Outer'' parts of the watch, not the actual mechanism and insides... Still good tho, But I was expecting to be a bit more advanced.
@pianoboylaker6560 Жыл бұрын
The disappointing thing is, you don't build your own watch do you? The watch is already built, you just put it together. If it was a real test to your ot my ability, the movement would come in pieces with instructions to build from scratch. That's a real build it yourself product. But not this. Now I would buy a kit like that for £2/300 but not something that's already assembled that you put in a case.
