Love this video from Jan 2023. What a difference a year - now feb 2024_- has made in the cost of materials! Its still worth it.

About the drilling part... If you want to make the job easier: start with a small drill bit, drill small holes, THEN enlarge those holes by drilling again with the bigger drill bit.

I’ve always made sure my soil is saturated before planting any new plants. This will help to prevent your plants from going into shock especially when you’re separating plants and then leaving them in full sun.

I’m getting ready to do the same here in zone 6b. I’m using a very old galvanized steel bucket, which has rust holes for drainage. 🌱

I grow rosemary year round in NW Arizona. My plants are huge & have been growing since 2009 or 2010. They were started in Oregon & when I moved to Arizona in 2011, they came too. The same with oregano. My oregano is beautifully spreading and becoming a beautiful carpet.

You should use a pad for your knees - trust me, after a few years your knees will not feel well unless you do.

I am new here. I love herbs. Most of mine are grown in pots. I do have one Mint plant that is going on 5 years old and planted on the side of the house. Everyone says it will take over but I have been lucky so far. Part of me wants it to grow farther out - I love Mint tea then picking it and drying it for hot teas in the winter. My other Mints do not make it through the winter - maybe my pots need to be bigger.

I saw this video a couple months ago and am finally ready to plant! I've gathered everything and just need to do it. It's already pretty warm here (South Texas), but I'm hoping for the best! Thanks for the great tips!

Cant wait to get mine started. Thanks for sharing this relatively easy project. I'm in NC and it gets really hot during the summer. Would it be ok to add parsley and cilantro to this herb garden instead? I don't use a lot of rosemary in my kitchen.

Hi there! Parsley and cilantro will work great when it's not so hot out. Cilantro will go to seed really fast in the summer. These would be better for spring and fall.

I'm getting ready to plant Korean melons by seed in a 2' x 4' raised bed (Kansas 6b). Mint was recommended as a companion plant to help keep the pests away. Is this a bad idea due to mint's aggressiveness? If yes, how about planting the mint in a large terra cotta pot and placing that pot in the soil of the raised bed? THANK YOU!
@Gardenary
@Gardenary Ай бұрын
Some people do keep mint in plastic nursery pots, but it can still spread on top of soil. For one season it should be fine. Just harvest it a lot to keep it in check
