My second year of gardening in a small space until God answers our vision of owning land to do more. Planting herbs this year with seeds and plants, hoping for success. You inspired me to start an apothecary in my kitchen- hubby cleared a whole cabinet area for me just for my medicinal herbs, jars, and other products

I'd love that dream. But reality is at my age, and money is a big factor. I'm blessed with what I have and am extremely grateful. I can and do grow as much as possible. Currently, beds are full. As I harvest or plants age out, I'm ready to fill the hole. This is my 2nd year growing and my 1st year weighing and keeping track. I am currently learning more about medicinal herbs for the future.

You really are a kindred spirit as Anne of Green Gables would say. My plan is to start my seeds this weekend too and most, if not all, of the same medicinal seeds. One trick I saw Kevin from Living Traditions Homestead use when planting tiny seeds, is the wet end of a toothpick. It allows you to just pick up a couple of seeds at a time and then touch it to the soil to plant. I think I'll try putting seeds on a paper plate or towel to spread them out a bit so I don't get any of the extra seeds close to the wet toothpick. I don't have the space to plant the whole seed packet or plants later on. 😉

I took out rose of Sharon….such a pain it drops seeds everywhere and then there’s little trees to pull. I have just two I’m keeping because the leaves are edible….also took hostas out because they always get ugly later in the summer and calls in the deer to devour them….
