What kind of screws did you use to anchor to the wall like the length of the
@bobsoddjobs4 ай бұрын
Hey, I used wall anchoring bolts. I have concrete, so they were concrete wall anchor bolts. If you have studs you can use wood lug bolts. Make sure they're heavy duty enough to hold the weight of whoever is on the bed. Take care :)

Is there a way to put the stairs between the wall and the bed on the side? Im thanking of doing one on each side of the room with a floor in the middle that also has a pull out bed under the floor.. then also two rooms under the bed for mire privacy because of having mulitiple kids in one room

Her Cameron, This sounds ambitious, I love it! You could absolutely put the stairs against the wall. However you would have to move the bed away from the wall to accommodate the width of the stairs. In this case your definitely going to want to make sure you build safety railings so no one mistakenly rolls off the bed and down the stairs. Hope that helps, good luck with this project Take care :)

How did you bolt it to the wall?
@bobsoddjobs3 жыл бұрын
Hey Michael, I used lag bolts and bolted it directly to the studs in the wall. Two bolts per stud. I pre drilled holes so the studs wouldn't crack. One of the beds has a concrete block wall so I used heavy duty concrete bolts. The weight is spread across multiple studs and the supporting leg of the bed. Hope that helps :) Take Care

So on the wall side that's just a 2x4 not a 2x12? I'm being a bit more ambitious taking your design and measurements and making a full... 😀
@bobsoddjobs Жыл бұрын
Hey Spre, Sorry for the late reply. Yep it's a 2x4, I figured the bes doesn't need a 2x12 there because it's up against the wall. If you were going to make this a free standing bed I would definitely use a 2x12 there. Did you finish your project? How did it turn out? Take Care :)

@Bob's Odd Jobs I did, turned out great as a full. Stairs were to steep(daughter wanted the dogs to be able to climb) so I changed it and added real stairs(tread, risers, stringers) stained it gray, changed out the plywood with 1x3 furling.

Fantastic! Glad it worked out. Yeah the stairs I built are a bit steep but the kids don't complain :)

How much was all this plz answer soon
@bobsoddjobs3 жыл бұрын
Hey Kole, The cost was about $150 Canadian per bed. That includes all the wood for the stairs and the bunk itself. That being said the cost of lumber has increased so I would guess closer to $200 Canadian or more. Hope that helps :) Take Care

is it safe?

Hey L, It's pretty solid and not wobbly. I think you wouldn't want to have really small children using this. If you're concerned, you can add a hand railing to it. I added a grab bar near the top so my kids have something to hold onto. It's attached to the bunk and is 16in long. It was definitely a needed addition. Take Care :)

@@bobsoddjobshow did you attach the grab to your stairs and the bed? To the studs?

Hey, The hardest part is cutting the wood. Once you have it all cut, make sure you level and square everything as you put it all together. Hope that helps
