That's a very nice and simple solution. I think I might ad a solenoid valve for the air so it comes on automatically when I start the lathe's motor.

Could you add a couple of recommendations for coolant for a) aluminum, and b) run of the mill steels. Thanks!

Our most common universal coolant is TRIM E-206. It is a non toxic good performance coolant and does not usually cause skin irritation.

Nice thoughtful solution! Have you looked at any of the $15-30 eBay mist cooling systems? Wonder how this compares. Thanks again for all you do to teach all of us!

Awesome, I already have a HF air brush laying around. What size is the hose that leads from the gun to the coolant though?
@TigermothRacingTV
@TigermothRacingTV 3 жыл бұрын
The airbrush comes with a black hose. I got more of the same size in clear from Mc Master. That way you can see when the coolant is flowing properly. Be sure to put a vent hole in the coolant jug to release the vacuum.

No the mist seems to be coarse enough that it settles fast. Unless you are working in a 1 car garage you probably won't notice any in the air.

what is the coolant liquid ? do you have any cheap solution for it :) especially for these open cnc systems (no any pool for coolant, or no any liquid cieculation system)
@TigermothRacingTV

We primarily use TRIM E-206 non toxic but there are hundreds of coolant options. Usually you don't even need a collection system with a mist cooler unless you run it all day.

Curious, I have to assume you knew about the mister's that they sell. You didn't mention why you chose a air brush over a dedicated mister? Like those sold on AMZ that you can find in a search called "Coolant Lubrication Spray System", many of which are like $25 these days.
@TigermothRacingTV
@TigermothRacingTV Жыл бұрын
I honestly had not seen those. I originally made my own air brush mister back in about 2008 and have been using them since. Back then the only ones I could find were $400/$600 and I could not afford them. Good to see some vendors have filled that gap in the market. Let me know if you try one and you like it.
@GlennInLaguna

@@TigermothRacingTV I wonder if the airbrush provides a finer mist that those sold on AMZ and eBay. It seems they both require about the same pressure. The ones listed say 5-7KGF, which is in the range of what your airbrush requires. It is a great idea you had there.

@TigermothRacingTV

It depends on the cutting you are doing and what you like. We have been using the TRIM E206 coolant in a mist system for a very long time because it is non toxic and works well.
