Build Your Own Off Road Suspension - Spindles

This is how I build an off road suspension spindle in my garage using some simple CAD and the Langmuir Systems CrossFire XR. This video is an excellent addition to the Shock Therapy videos. I too used theirs when designing my suspension. They really know their stuff. It seems like one could spend a lifetime learning suspension geometry and still have more to learn.

Siemens NX cad software and a good 3D scanner and your life be so much better once you get the hang of it. You can scan all your part and make solid models at of them and create assemblies with motion to see everything moving and run stress analysis on them. The possibilities are endless.

Have you done or can you show how to do a tab and slot on your drawings? I'm thinking to make assembly with internal gussets easier. Video's are fantastic and i'm close to ordering a plasma table. You are making the choice much easier

is there any tutorials youve ran across for designing the spindles? i have a short grasp on it but im wanting to build a spindle with angles built into it rather than the upright just being square to your hub flange

Great videos, thanks for all the information and links, I'm inspired to start my own ifs suspension build. One question, did you use 2wd hubs/unit bearings?

I think the 2wd and 4WD are the same. I pulled them from a 2wd truck, but they seem to have the splines to be powered.

@@ntdracing I know some hubs have to have a shaft through them and torqued to keep the bearing together, I'm guessing the 2wd isn't that way. I have 4wd hubs that I'm going to be using.

How did you measure the king pin offset? Is that the distance from pin to wheel mount? Couldn’t find a good explanation on their site for it so I can calculate my KPI needed

I see one major flaw in your calculations ... you don't use metric in your measurments so it can't work :P.
