I am loving all the great content you have been creating! Just wondering if you could go into more detail about greenhouses for beginners like using as a way to harden off and starting seeds. Hardening off seeds is such a chore.

Same. I love how she goes over every detain (believe me I'm trained for over 10 years and I learn stuff from her every time I watch a vid.) and she doesn't bother with the silly cutesy antics and phony-ness of other youtubers.

I've never seen anyone use the rope at the top of the piping like that- that's a genius idea! I have unfortunately tried to make a hoophouse like these so many different ways, & everytime we get a tiny bit of wind, it gets torn apart! I ended up buying a couple quictent hoophouses & burying the plastic & metal bars about 9 inches in the ground + sandbags on tops & that's the only thing that has worked!

Thanks so much for this tutorial and sharing your method of building a pop-up greenhouse. This would definitely work for me in my zone5🇨🇦 urban garden as a newbie. Thank you!

I did this last night in the dark for my sweet peas. I'm sure I'll have to make some adjustments today when I go out and see it.🤣 It's great for hardening things off for sure.

Yes to the bubble wrap! Plus it gives all that bubble wrap we have a new life. Those clips are the best. I will do one of these until I get my greenhouse in 1-2 years. Need a new shed first 🙂

I loved this video! (I love all of them TBH) I’m newer and LEARNING. The “spine” is the answer I was looking for! I’m also in Denver, and deal with a TON of rabbit pressure in my area. Lost ALL of my seedlings last year; combined with the late frost we had - it’s a wonder I had anything LOL but the late summer allowed time for some late blooms through 1st 1/2 of October - so that was cool. :). Working on mapping out a plan and saw your other video on garden layout ideas which was also SUPER helpful! Thank you for making these and sharing your knowledge. I’m excited for a production 2023!!!! Trying a lot of new things this year so praying for success!

Thank you. I will build this type of minihoophouse inside my single poly hightunnel. Here in the way up north (60 N latitude) we need to get extra protection for the frost.

I use the clips and also elastic bands from homedepot, to keep the plastic down because wind is strong during northeaster winter.

thank you (lol.. .ironically) ... another thing on my to do list, because my wife love this, and already asked me nicely to build one (well ..what the wife wants... the wife... usally gets ;) ) But in all honesty... here in the Netherlands we gotten quite a cold februari, and a colder start of march this year (frost at night even) ..so this would even have been helpfull 3 weeks ago ;)

The inner layer of the double plastic layer could be reused until the reaction with PVC happens to then be changed out or the PVC could be painted with anti UV paint. This could theoretically make this a more long term option.

Question- at the end when you say without a heater the double plastic will provide protection of 5 degrees, does that mean it will protect the ground from reaching freezing temps when it’s as low as 10 degrees outside? I hope that makes sense thank you for the great content!

I love the rope spine idea. I have seen pvc used as a center post but this looks more stable. Would soil heaters work to add enough heat?

Just found your channel and would love to know where in the U.S you are located and what Zone you garden in. I am in Central Ontario Canada and still have a foot of snow on my raised bed right now. Our last frost date is May 24, so Starting anything outside before that is a death sentence most years, and some years its still too soon. Since Its more of a hobby for me, I am not prepared to buy a Greenhouse. But this idea is pretty cool, along with your cattle panel hoop house.

Thank you for the detailed instructions!! I don't see the clamps on the amazon products page. Are they a 1/2" jaw spring clamp for 1/2" PVC or do they need to have a larger jaw?

Just tried this the other weekend because we had temps in the low 60s and of course in Colorado that happening on the weekend is amazing luck. But in 30 minuets one had bent and creased in the middle and the other just exploded/shattered. I'm not sure if it is still too cold or if it is the fact our beds are only 2.5 ft wide. Do you have any recommendations for narrow beds or is there another type of PVC that might work better?

How does the 8mil hold up to colorado hail? Do you happen to know of any bug netting that would hold up to hail as well? I know hardware cloth/wire mesh works well but of course it is expensive.

Do you feel as though using cattle panels would be stronger? It would be more expensive. I live in the New England area, worried about the snow load.
@Blossomandbranch
@Blossomandbranch Жыл бұрын
The snow usually slides off these or is easily shaken off. Cattle panels don’t work well for smaller structures like these in my opinion but the metal hoops would be stronger than the PVC.

Cattle panels would be for a bigger one that I could walk through? I believe you have a video on that.
