Just flowered organically in 1.7 gallons .... my last run before this was 5 gallons organic , & it turned out alright . The 1.7 gals have kicked my ass & had a LOT more problems . (Deficiencies , fungus gnats , over/underwatering , etc ) Gonna come down in a few days , results are still good as far as quality and yield but its not worth the headaches and problems ! Bigger is always better when it comes to the amount of soil you use

What im really interested in is seeing your philosophical and strategic approach to how you'd deal with the smaller pot size; even just hearing you mention liquid feeds is a big unlock that i wasn't aware of as an option in organics, so it would just be cool to be able to follow your lead through the whole process and have a reliable reference, as well as a visual indicator for all the things your talking about re: plant size etc. but i can also appreciate a big time suck like what you described, so ill be watching no matter what the next season is. love all of this man. thank you.

I think you should do a 5 gal pot run, like you said most of us start out in 5 gal pots. So why not show it can be done with great success, hard work and dedication = Success
@danielkieboom29703 жыл бұрын
I actually thought about it a while and I agree, but like he says it has to be doable, also for us. I would like to see a 5 gal pot setup with some sort of irrigation system. that way it is realistic in a home setup and also doable for the video.

I don't have a question at the moment, just wanted to say I love this..and very much look forward to ea episode. Use a 7 or 10gal..5 is too small..your right..maybe do a side by side of a 5 and a 10 and water and check on the same...demonstrate dominoe effect..if that's even big enough..maybe do that, however, but in a 4x4 so it could be it's own short series of daily life, trying to manage a small pot as opposed to a larger?idk..now I have to rewatch..i missed it writing this book.✌

Hi Jeremy excellent show thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and all the great tips at growing organically. You should have a main water line going around on the inside of the 10x10 on a thicker pipe, and have all the small pipes go from the main line to the pots, this way the pipes won't be in the way on the inner side of the tent. It worked great on my last (hydroponic) grow in my 4x4, even though I don't walk around in the tent. The main line met itself again to form a closed loop. I pumped in the nutrients into the tent, but it was difficult to determine the optimal amount of nutrient water to pump in. Since my timer could pump at the least 1 min per day, it was too much in the small hydroponic smart pot containers (6 trees in 3 gallon containers), so I had to stop feeding at certain stages by switching off the pump and timer, since I would notice too much runoff. Yield was very large but automation not entirely successful.

I grow in a no-till in 5 gallon containers. I use lots of different natural nutrient sources, worms, cover crop, and a natural mulch layer consisting of cuttings from the plants. I do a full water every 2nd or 3rd day, but wet the tops every morning. Soil is pretty compacted though, and the only issue I've had.

Rules: Fun, simple, repeatable. Gardening is supposed to be fun. Do it in a way that is enjoyable to you. I like how you say "don't make complicated plans you can't carry out to the finish". I made that mistake 20+ years ago. Each year since then my plan has been all about simple ideas that give a great results. Lastly... Don't over grow you ability to handle the harvest. Harvest is a lot of work and has to be done on nature schedule.

@BuildASoil , thank you so much for all of these informative videos! I’m a big fan. You mentioned in this video that you don’t like Blumats…what I’d it about them that you find problematic? How extensively have you played with them? I’ve been using their “Blusoak” drip tape in 300 gallon pots(my own soil blend including several bags of your 3.0 blend in each), with a timer on the supply lines, and two large blumat carrots in each container. The results are pretty stunning (I’d love to share some pix). There can be maintenance, it’s not cheap, and takes time and effort to set up properly…realistically it took me several seasons to figure out how to maximize the benefits and set up a consistently functional system….but since I got it working well, it has saved me so much time and guesswork, vs hand-watering. My Cannabis plants are happier than ever, and 8-9’ tall at the onset of bloom- which is very challenging in the high dessert climate of Northern NM. The fruits and veggies love it too. But I’m always learning, evolving, and hopefully will always keep improving my gardening capabilities. So with that said, I’d love to hear your critique of the Blumats, and what irrigation systems you prefer as an alternative.

5 gallons is the guerillas best friend. Slow release with hempys or even a 5gallon reservoir with drip lines keeps you from having to pack in the water as much. The more you know 💫. A drone is not a bad idea

What are you thoughts on adding sand, silt, and clay to your soil mixes? Leighton Morrison preaches it allot in the horizonal soil system ideas. I find the info very intriguing as our real end goal is bio-mimicary at its fullest potential. Also many of the microorganisms rely on these materials in their food chain. Is there a right or wrong time to plant a cover crop? Or is it like the old saying, better late than never? I'm week one of flower & my White Clover was just delivered. You mentioned that you're not a fan of the Blumat watering system. Could you elaborate as to why? I am because I have fallen in love with mine in my 70 gallon 3x3 no till bed
@RedMusicMagic2 жыл бұрын
I had the same thoughts exactly…I use 300 gallon grow bags outdoors, more like “low till” than no-till, but leaning in that direction, and reusing/amending my soil rather than dumping it each year…I use 2 Blumats per container, with their blusoak tape for distribution, and the plants love it.
