Timestamps: 0:00 Hello and Welcome! 1:19 I'm upgrading my bed to a larger size, are there any drawbacks to transferring soil from the old bed, or should I buy new soil? 3:27 It's expensive to get minerals shipped to me, can I use Granite from Home Depot? 6:13 Should I let the root zone dry out in time with harvesting? Is it advantageous to harvest with dry soil? 8:59 Should I add extra aeration material to the soil when using Auto-Pots? 10:24 Lights ON vs OFF before harvest? 11:07 Why did you not top-dress the Lychee tree? 12:07 Can you do a 45min 'Smoke Report' video? 12:46 How important is environment when the plants are "off"? 14:18 (Shout out to Jeremy) 15:46 Can you do an "All Clone SCROG" in a future grow series? I've chased my tail over and over again using small containers. Definitely go bigger where you can. Even a 10 gallon is way better than 5. Just forget 3 gallons. I've never seen a better source for growing info in over 30 years of gardening!

Tons and tons of respect to you, Jeremy. You could have easily told everyone to buy new soil. Hell, you even stand to gain if we did buy new soil. But you didn't. You have the integrity to say, "you should definitely reuse the soil you have." You're a pretty rad dude.

For consideration. Artizan take-n-bake about two years old. I run perpetual in 5g pots, only 4wk veg, and the soil gets reammended and rests between uses. Constant rotation. I lift pots, and noticed that even when dry the pots seemed heavy after about a year. Turns out a good perentage of my soil was castings. I don't need tons more volume so instead of adding a lot, I subtracted. I lightly sifted the soil to get castings and the added some pumice and rice hulls. The way I see it those castings are "spent" as far as cannabis goes, and I have fresh castings I add during the grow. I now use those "pot castings" for making seed-starter soil or to add some good micro-life to my outdoor garden as I plant starts and row-seeds.

Season 5 idea I know it’s pretty unlikely but I’d honestly like to see a SOG grow, even if only in one quadrant. I’ve heard of sea of green grows referenced hundreds of times, even heard you reference it, but I’ve never seen a video documented SOG run. It would be quite educational in my opinion to see a side by side comparison between a traditional scog net and a sea of green grow. Just for funzies!
@BugTrampler
@BugTrampler Жыл бұрын
I think SOG doesn't go well with the BuildASoil way, because the BuildASoil way it depends on big containers which implicitly also means that the plants should be growing into that space. With SOG you mosly only transplant, do 2 weeks of veg and then go into flower. Imho this does not give the plant enough time to really develop a big and healthy root-zone for accessing all the nutrients in the big container. Also the plant does not have time to develop feeder-roots at the top, so also the whole topdressing does not work as good i think.

7:48 the dry backs are not for it staying moist. It’s to control the regenerative cycle, and generative cycles. Meaning when used correctly even during vegetative light cycles, we can promote pre flowers and sex the plant before ever going to 12/12. This is done by creating a larger or smaller delta between dry and moist Say 40% to 65% compared to 30% back to 65%

Hi Jeremy as always I love all your content I watch every episode and I refer back to them all the time when I have questions in my garden. So you have mentioned that you have a grow going on at your home, do you think it would be possible for you to show us your home grow? I would love to see how you handle things at your home and what your personal style is. Ever since you started KZbin you are pretty much my go to person for information and everything I own for growing has come from buildasoil. Keep up the great work and thank you. - Nick

I started watching you when you first started your channel. I was a teenager whom found seeds in his stress bag lol. They never opened up and got moldy. (Napkin) anyways I’ve come a long way. A decade later I decided to grow and became super good at it. I started my first living soil pot with recycled soil with my own knowledge I acquired over two years. Thank you for being part of my life. I hope you see this man. I’d love to visit ur facility !

Hi Jeremy and company! I have a non-cannabis related question, and it relates to some extent to your tropical tent setup (sort of). Have you considered stocking bonsai related soils, amendments, wire, and tools? There are hundreds of thousands of bonsai enthusiasts, practitioners, and professionals across this country that have poor access to supplies. The suppliers that do exist charge an extreme amount of money for these soil aggregates and wire, and the freight is another small fortune. The akadamma (which is the single most important ingredient) is made and sourced from Japan. Most people don't have bonsai supply shops to visit in their region, like myself, and sourcing akadamma, pumice, and lava rock at the correct aggregate sizes for our trees is damn near making us go broke, or we're having to resort to cheap baked clay and granite as substitutions which is not suitable for healthy bonsai trees. You could fill a desperate gap in the market if you started carrying these substrates. Build-A-Bonsai would be amazing. Your shipping volume deals could make this very beneficial to thousands of bonsai lovers around the USA. (And as a side note, they've found the same clay as akadamma soil around Mount Hood in WA and all an intrepid and adventurous entrepreneur would need to do is go mine it, and we'd have cheaper USA made akadamma right here in the states.) Anyway, just a thought. Love your videos and I've known you since Alan's FB page way back before you started Build-A-Soil. It's amazing what you've created over the years. I'm a customer for life. Much love! - Paul

Love the content Jeremy. Thank you so much for these videos. I'm just getting back into growing after about 12 years off. I really appreciate what you're doing for growers. Not having to search through forums like the old days makes it a million times easier to get back into this. I can't imagine how much better my old outdoor grows would have been if there were videos like these back then. I think I had a lot of beginners luck my first few years. I grew enough for myself for a year for three summers in a row and it was much better than most of what I could find here. I just bought a whole new indoor setup with all the build a soil products to go with it. I'm going through all the 10'x10' series for the second time now. I should have taken notes the first time. Sorry if I'm rambling. I just ate a 500mg edible and it's in full effect. Thanks again and Keep up the good work.

The professor of the game. I watch , listen to a lot of podcast and KZbin videos on growing. By far Jermey knowledge has taught me so much. B.A.S products have been the best thing for me as a new grower. I am fairly new to growing and am on my 3rd grow. The first grow was a lot of learning and I won’t call it a failure because I was introduced to the products and KZbin videos. The second grow was very exciting due to actually making it to flower and able to enjoy the whole process. I just went into flower a week ago on my third run and I am so surprised o how much knowledge and experience I have obtained in this last year. Thank you Jermey for the time and education I look forward in continuing my schooling and growth in the Build A Soil way. Loyal to the Soil

Agree another scrog would be cool if you went into detail on training, could just section a 2x4 or 4x4 space with 2 or 4 plants (respectively) since those are common tent and scrog sizes. U probably know this but clones grow a bit differently, I would recommend doing a scrog from seed only, with either 4 main branches (3rd and 4th nodes) or 6 branches (3rd+4th+5th nodes), and possibly additional further topping of some of those branches to fit the space nicely. There are a surprisingly low amount of these vids out there that are well-made, majority are fake scrogs that still grow mostly vertical rather than horizontal under the canopy. I know the focus is soil but would be cool to see some more training-related vids also!

I definitely think that we need a well dialed in blumat run. They can be tricky to get right which is why I state dialed in, no point replicating the autopot issues due to inexperience and then write off a product (not that you did that, just more benefit if its properly understood). Maybe get in an advocate (Sustainable village, Tad Hussey?)to help set up and dial in on camera. Beneficial for them, for you and for the viewer! personally use them in my tomato planters outside as I am crap at watering and they are outstanding.

My question regarding reusing soil is avoiding buildup. I know that in recirculating hydro systems that top up with tap water, the plants eventually get sick if you don’t drain and refill the reservoir. I believe this is due to a buildup of calcium, magnesium, and chloride which eventually creates a very high ppm/salty environment. I assume we have the same issue with soil, where salts from our water accumulate and the alkalinity of hard tap water continually beats up the soil until the ph is around 8. The only reason my outdoor garden survives in Los Angeles is because the yearly rain flushes the soil bringing the salt content down along with the ph, like a reset. I haven’t heard you mention flushing soil to reset it, and I wonder if that’s because you don’t have that issue in a low ppm water environment like Colorado.

Top dressing is where and when I introduced gnats to the grow room. Two part question; If I were to sterilize EWC for top dressing I would kill any biology in the castings. Do we need worry about adding microbes back in, or just leave it alone? Are there other things that are used for top dressing such as compost or dark reed sedge peat? p.s. My mini washer is arriving today. I'm trying Pedro's hash method with some fluffy buded plants that didn't turn out they way I like em. Cant wait.

I grew a strain called medical mass cbd. The plant was beautiful. Caked in frost. Red buds. Tasted like rotten fruit. But man there was zero buzz. Lol. I kinda expected like something. Anyway. I gave all the flower to a couple with a autistic child and he smoked it all. They said he reacted to the cbd better then any meds he ever had. I gave then the clone but they just couldn't get a harvest.

A question about autoflowers being started in for example the ac Infinity 1/4 gallon nusury bags then transplanting into their forever home. The line im thinking on is if you were to use the root riot plugs plant the plug into a 1/4 gallon nurse bag then plant the nursery bag into a fabric pot. Will it trigger flowering when the roots hit the nusery bag? Or will it just grow through until it reaches the fabric pot without problems? Or should i just go from the plug to the fabric pot and turn up the humidity?

I have noticed some products I use causes the bubbles to go away from my wetting agent. For example the fpf (fermented grain extract) fulvic acid from organic alive and also the liquid fish and kelp I use. When I mix in my wetting agent I get lots of bubbles and the water looks soapy but when ever I add either of those 2 the bubbles go away. My question is why and does this have any positive or negative effects. My thought process is maybe I don't need a wetting agent when using these products but I'd like your opinion maybe I need to use more wetting agent? So basically what causes this and what are the effects it has?

I live by the ocean and have endless supply of seaweed, would you use it as a top dressing/mulch, would you add fresh water ferment like KNF, or possibly sundry and grind up. You are the messiah oh soil. Loyal to the Soil or as we say on Vancouver Island Canada, ocean grown is our home

Can I use rice hulls as a mulch layer and if so how deep? Because the hulls are so small I would worry that the hulls would smother the soil. Thanks for all your help. The BAS way has greatly improved the quality and yield of the medicine I am able to produce for my wife who is fighting stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Her quality of life has been greatly improved since I started the BAS way almost 2 years ago now...🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸
