So during school my teacher explained that the 45° is for when you soak the roots or plug them it helps prevent air bubble catching in the xylem and causing death to the clone. And because it creates more surface area of the cambium to where the roots will grow from. Just my two scents from what my propagation classes taught me. Love your videos and this is my way of showing support.

If you wet your media/soil before potting, it makes for a more consistent porosity/consistency. Balance of water pores vs air pores. Otherwise, when you first hydrate the dry media with the plug inside the roots get crushed by the expanding peat fibres. Always plant wet imo, even if it's rooted. Less stress. As you said, there's no reason to ever stress clones. Thanks for the organic tips as usual. Pce ☮️

I have a green thumb and decided to grow my own this year. One of my cats broke off a branch and the plant had just started to flower. (He only ate the leaves) Feeling bad and wanting to also show a friend, I put the stem in a vase of water on my kitchen windowsill and it rooted. I eventually planted it in a pot and fed it. It is now flowering! Unknown to me, I created a clone. :D I realized how much I liked to grow so I am buying a grow tent this week. The salesman at the store gave me eight of his clones to try out. I'm excited about taking care of these babies. Thank you so much for your informative video! I'll be back for more.

My confidence shoots up a notch with every video I watch! I am nearing the end of my very first grow (ever) and wishing that I found this channel when I started, so many things I could have done differently for a larger yield, I’m a newbie. I am not in touch with someone from your website to help me come up with a kit that I will eventually buy, hopefully in December! I will be living on your channel for the tips and tricks! Again wish I found you long ago! I’m still please with my yield for my first grow, but now I know what I can do to optimize my plant

Hands down the best cloning video I've seen...and I've seen a lot. They all pretty much cover the same thing with different variations, but you really explain the key elements that make each step successful. As I'm watching I'm telling myself I did all those steps just like they instructed, but it allows me to look back and understand why I failed or what went wrong. Great info and delivery. Thank you for your time and knowledge and for sharing.

This is an invaluable teaching tool for novices and pro's alike. I just found this channel yesterday and i find it riveting. After a 40 year break from growing I find myself in Virginia where it is at last legal to do so. Irony being that I am a recovering addict with no intention of getting high but I have a keen interest in growing all manner of things and this will give me an opportunity to explore numerous indoor and outdoor growing situations. Besides, as we all know it's fun as hell !!

You’re exactly right about the amount of roots, I am a practiced cloner of many types of plants (Ivies are the quickest and easiest to clone) and it becomes very apparent very quickly that roots developed in only water are very different than roots that will sustain the growth in soil, if they’re allowed to develop to long you need to grow them hydroponically

The 45° cut serves to expand the surface area of the fresh cut. It gives the plant a better chance at uptake because more "meat" is exposed to the water available. It is not necessary, but it can't hurt either. And, great video, as always. Thanks for all you do for us!

This is a solid way to do it if you have the funds, and decent cutting limit. I can only have 6 cuttings, so I just use 1 liter Coke bottles that my brother keeps for me, I cut the top half off put about 3" of perlite in the bottom, pour in a about an oz of the water my cuts were soaking in, then put the cuts in a 1" rockwool or plug and set it on top of the perlite, put the top back on and seal it will tape. After that I wait 12 days take the lid off and let it dry out for 2 days. On day 14 I take the ones that didn't wilt, usually 5/6 survive (it's sink or swim in my garden), and plant them directly in their veg pots with a splash of water. The best part for me is that you can forget for weeks and it won't matter, you will just have more roots, very hands off. If you sanitize the bottles well you will not have to worry about rot (my rooting water is inoculated with AZOS, also prevents rot). I also only use a 4w daylight led bulb, I put the bottles with the cuts on top of the light I use for my mothers for warmth, and the bulb about 6" above the cuts, so it all fits in a 3'x3'x8' tent.

Mr Jeremy, me I assume a good few other who may like this think you should take these clones and make a season 2: Dial it in, all about how to take genetics and take what happened in round 1 and grow on it both literally and metaphorically, I'd like to see just how someone really dials a plant, even though that may take a little while, like 4 or 5 runs, I'd still be very very interested on your build a soil approach! These videos are sick. i recently listened to a podcast with Brandon Rust who, among other things, said that he only uses single mineral inputs in his soils and cited the potential buildup of sodium and chloride in the soil over time with inputs derived from the ocean. Curious to hear your thoughts on these claims since i know your inputs frequently include kelp and crustacean meals.

I would like to know more about how you water the pucks before they root. Do you spray them routinely each day with the Chaplin sprayer (same water mixture/nutrients)? Do you dunk them into water to saturate? What things are you looking for, to know if they have enough water, or they need more water? You said "mist them," does that mean a spray bottle? I think watering is where I screw up, so any tips would be appreciated.

Awesome! An updated from seed video would be great too! The 2018 one seems outdated with your new techniques and products. You took the clone tray out when you switched the flowering tent to 12/12. How long should clones see the ambient/weak light that you described? Would teen seedlings undergo this same process only starting from soil? Or would you start seeds in the pucks too? Thanks again, can't wait for my take n bake soil to arrive with some other goodies! I accidentally just roasted some pricey Exotic Genetix seeds (Rainbow Cakes) by putting the seed tray in the sunlight without a cover... big mistake! It costs to learn in this game so these videos are much appreciated! Keep em coming!
