I would really love to see you bring back the product highlight videos where you break down what the product is, what, when and how to use it, how its made etc etc. I absolutely loved the deep dives on the product videos you have done in the past. I know you are a busy man but I think a lot of us would enjoy those videos again. Just a suggestion. Hope you have a killer week my dude! 🤙

For the person who asked the mulch question - you can use something as simple as a piece of cardboard cut to fit your pot as a mulch layer

This is coming from a place of love and respect for the channel and everything BAS does so I hope this doesn’t come across the wrong way, but ngl I don’t love the idea that you come in blind to these. On one hand it’s cool that the answers are genuine and come from a place of experience rather than just googling an answer and talking about something you don’t fully understand, but more often than not I feel like you don’t feel confident enough in some of these answers to follow so it kind of defeats the purpose. I know you’re busy and fully researching all of these would be super time consuming but I feel like looking them over beforehand and checking into a few things, even just at surface level, would go a long way. Just my take on these FAQs. Like I said, love you guys and everything you do for the community 💚

For growers in contry where we are not allow to grow. !always pick abit oversize on Ventilation/filters EG. if you got a 80x8ox180 tent ppl will say go for a 4" ventilator. well thats where you pick 6" insted because then you can run it at lower speeds = less noise, plus the system is able to hold for a longer time. It also keeps you safe the day you get a strain that smells more then the ohter strains do with the 4" it maybe smells so much the filter can't take it. Well that where the 6" will save you ;-) i run a 80x80x200 with AC infinity T6 ( i am in a department so noise is a issue. the T6 can keep tent air/cool on settings 3 ( because it is oversize for my tent) ;-) Ps. Epic series you make @BuildASoil 🙏

Appreciate the information. As far as smell, can you still smell it outside of tent? Or do you have to filter the air from the room you're growing in?

Just got my 3x6 grassroots bed going, grew a huge mycelium colony in about 3 weeks with little air flow, no light, moisture and inoculation products. Then sowed cover crop directly on top covered lightly in worm castings. Then local wheat straw mulched over the top. Cover crop is all sprouted and working its way through the straw, seedlings are about a week old and will be putting them into the bed in a few days so they can keep a lead on the cover crop. Very excited as I have already found in the past that the more soil volume you have the better everything grows and yields.

Tray to grow with grass roots beds? Bro, I just chopped monster plants down with basically the same thing but a home made version. It worked awesome. Check this out. I had some 45 gallon GR pots I wasn't using. I cut the bottoms out and un-stitched the seem. I sowed 2 of them together making around 175 gallon pot. Took a blue plastic kiddy pool, put 4 inch drain pipe around the inside of it. Put a fill tube and drain tube in it. Filled the empty space around the pipe with pool sand just enough to cover the top of the pipes. I sowed weed barrier on the bottom of the 175G pot and put it on top. Filled the pot with a coots mix and BAM, one giant ass earth box. I killed it this year out doors with it. Super easy, fill it with clean filter water every week or 2 and train the plant with a cage. Thats it. Giant, monster trees. You should totally do something like that indoors but maybe with a smaller kiddy pool. Love your videos. Keep them coming.

We had the tree trimming uys trim up all the silver maples around our yard recently. So i had them drop the pile in the yard and i made a big windrow and im gong to let it compost down. i already got to add some crabs and old apples and some of my food scraps to it to keep it cooking. im thinking i may need to add my worms i nthe pile to over winter them easier than in the bin without bringing in a bunch of pests inside. I actually used to work at a compost facility it in Aberdeen Maryland called veteran compost. if you are in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania area they are an awesome resource for worms,worm castings compost and soil mixes and other supplies. man that was a dirty job. But i loved it. i used to operate the skid loder mainly loading the finished compost into the tromel and making a pile for it to cure, and loading up bins for order. I was aweseom making soil with the tromel. all you had to do was add the peralie and peat moss in the bucket,dump it in the trommel then go add a bucket of copmost then surn it on and ait at the end with the bucket an you you had a pretty well mixed soil. used to line up the compost collection bins up with compost and would use them for deliveries the use the same cans to go tothe costumers for compost collection. you wouldnt belive ow much food gets wasted in this country.

if you really want to eliminate smell when growing loud bud you need a multi pronged approach. The first line of defense is your carbon filter, you NEED a good one if you want to really capture all the smell. The only ones I would use on a fan that was exhausting are the original CAN series (not the CAN - lite) or the Kootenay that is the same size, with the 2.5" carbon bed depth. Use the sizing guide on the filter, that means a 50 series for a 6" fan and 100 series for an 8" fan. Then your gonna want to put one of those ONA blocks inside either the filter or ducting, you can build an inline box for it if need be, the idea is for the filtered air to mix with the ona for a few feet of duct before it gets blown outside. You really only need the ona the last couple weeks of flowering but they are cheap insurance. You dont want ona inside the tent or grow space but they are good to put in rooms outside of the grow space like if your trimming and the smell is really strong. I know those big carbon filters are pricey but they are much cheaper than getting in trouble.

@@jacksorensen9644 no it dosent taint the taste but if I am growing in a tent using air from the house and putting ona in the house I usually put an old or cheap carbon filter on the intake fan too, just to filter any ona or any kind of other contaminants in the air.

6:12 hay out west where they have to water it constantly is more often sprayed than hay in the northeast it seems. Big alfalfa productions will spray aminopyralids on the crop to prevent broad leaf weeds from growing in with it. If you can find a local auction for hay you're going to get unsprayed stuff, and more of it, cheaper --they usually size it around 30 square bales per lot so they will fit on a single pick-up.

Hey Jeremy, thanks for all your hard work, it's greatly appreciated. On your Build A Soil schedule, the environmental section makes sense for photoperiod plants. It doesn't seem to work for autoflowers though. If you run your lights for 20 hours at 1000 PPFD, your DLI would be over 70. Does this mean that autoflowers would benefit greatly from CO2?

Not only do earthboxes work like a damn charm allowing everything to stay moist BUT strains that don't like a lot of water at once or that like to stay right on that line of perfect hydration do way way better. I'm working Drippy Eye s1 by MMS which is a perfect example of that. I find that they allow plants in general to be less stressed.

My first grow was inside of a dorm room, in a PC using auto-flower strain (ak-47 easy rider). Let me just say, I tried to clear it up pretty well, but in the end I got busted because of the smell during flowering. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE FLOWER SMELL. My girlfriend and I realized in our college class that we smelled like fresh weed.. it's smelly man.. it's literally going to get inside everything if you are going filter-less or have a week filter. Just be careful if you are in an illegal jurisdiction, even if you think you are doing all the "industry standard" smell cover-ups.

That auto pot/grass roots planter makes a lot more sense than putting “living soil” in an Earthbox. With that said, it’s not clear why the Tray2Grow is so much more expensive on the site than anywhere else? Does it include the planter? Also, what size tent are you running that in? It looks like a 2x4 footprint, but that isn’t going to fit I a 2x4 tent. You’d probably need a 5x5, at least.

I know that here in oregon where I live, my community produces a lot of hay/alfalfa/wheat. No one I know uses pesticides in their fields, there’s not a ton of pests attacking the fields here. Worst case scenario with a bale here is that there may be some type of weeds in it, so there’s the potential of having unwanted weeds sprout from it.

Hey, been watching since the start and I have def learnt a hell of lot from you, which I'm very grateful for, thank you. What does suck tho... I'm in the uk and cant buy any of your products, boo! haha! Not even the seeds on your new website. What's up with that? It seems none of the breeders you talk about ship to the uk. I so badly what to try some of the genetics from Kid Kaya, AWKID and Covert. Please can someone make it happen!! 🙏🙏

I got my start in hydro and just switched a few years ago after I started college. I was too busy to babysit the grow all the time, and even though I am graduating next year, I don't think I will ever go back to hydro. I am still in 7 and 10-gallon pots and was considering the move to earth boxes, but I think I'll wait until you get the "tray-to-grow" set up!!

Earth boxes are great for people who over water like me. I started using living soil and earth boxes and my weed is really really high quality now whereas before it was not.

What are your thoughts on the cannatrol machine for drying and curing. Some of the different people that do evaluation of new products like it. What I’ve seen it’s an 8 day process. The people that developed it have been drying and aging cheese and meat in Wisconsin for years. Anyway I’d like to know what you think. I finished up my very first grow in an earth box. Not bad for unknown genetics

Sometimes I place an extra carbon filter in my lung room just recirculating the air. It’ll scrub out whatever the first carbon filter misses.

Understanding RO- Why do we not want to use RO for plants when the RO systems have a remineralization phase at the end. Do the minerals not come back as prevalent as they were before the filtration? I’ve heard of people bypassing the remineralization for their RO holding container, and only using the remineralized water for drinking water. Do we not want those trace minerals in our drinking water? Im thinking bypassing the remineralization would only be good for humidifier water?

Thanks for all your efforts! Much love from Sydney Australia I have a question with transplanting - does the soil deplete (nutrition-wise) at the same rate if the plant is stunted than if it were healthy? I have a seedling that is 6 weeks old but still with 2 sets of leaves and no larger than 4 inches
@BuildASoil
@BuildASoil 8 ай бұрын
Temperatures Are Too Low or Too High. Cannabis likes it warm to grow healthy, and does best at daytime temperatures between 25-30°C. Temperatures lower than that will slow down your plant's metabolism, resulting in slower growth. If a plant is stunted then it is having a hard time up taking nutrients so it would uptake nutrients slower.

Jeremy just wondering if you have ever heard of the Hoyas irrigation method, or ollas irrigation, well I just discover this method but apparently it’s an ancient irrigation technique, just wondering if u have use this method and would u consider using it on a bed on your next season?

Hey BuildASoil, I'm a big fan of your channel, and I would love to see a series on clones with different nutrient levels. I think it would be really informative for viewers, and it would be a great opportunity for you to learn more about cloning and nutrient levels yourself. Thanks for your time and consideration! When you pollinated some lower flowers, do you think it impacted the other flowers on the same plant? For example, when cucumber plants produce a mature cucumber, it will stop making flowers. Not sure if the cannabis plant changes its growth pattern after it produces mature seed.
@BuildASoil
@BuildASoil 8 ай бұрын
Pollen immediately gets deactivated with moister or water. If you were to just throw pollen in your tent then all your plants would be pollinated. In order to single branches out for pollination you first gather the pollen then apply with a brush to specific branch.

Hey Jeremy, first off, thanks for what you do. My question is what are your thoughts on mitigating the Nitrogen being absorbed by Hugelkultur for that first year with a Nitrogen-fixing cover crop or would I want to just load up on Nitrogen sources to balance that first year? Thanks in advance, I appreciate everything you do.
