The only mistake I saw was at 5:15. When grinding the rings, grind one side only. Otherwise clean work! I build my 4G63s/64s pretty close to this and run the same crank. I use A dial bore gauge on the crank bearing bores directly with the main bearings installed and cradle torqued, instead of the snap gauge/micrometer method. I've never seen that crank sensor setup before on this block. Very cool!

At high RPMs, I’ve heard that if the circlip opening is at three or 9 o’clock that it could compress the circlip enough to fall out. This has never happened to anyone I know but it does makes sense. Could just be a myth, but just incase, I always place the opening at 12 or 6.

You should take the micrometer tool from the gray part, which is a thermal insulator. If you take it from the metal part, you can vary the measurement due to the transfer of temperature to the tool.
@uknterror5085 ай бұрын
I think it would be cool to include the build sheet for these motors as well!
@jkiley44663 ай бұрын
There were a few mistakes. The PTW you measured was .0045, not .045. You put the pistons in backwards - the larger valve reliefs are for the intake valves, but they were installed on the exhaust side. You installed the oil pump front cover assembly with a missing dowel, there should be 2 to locate the gasket and cover properly. Didn't appear to put any ARP lube on the threads of the main studs, only the washers. Used too much silicone in a few places.

Super clean. But I think I know what's the mistake. I'm not pretty sure, but I think you're supposed to check the piston rings gap in its specific cylinder where it should be, and it I think the piston ring should be put lower in the cylinder cause the way you're putting it might be even higher than TDC. Probably not required in most engines, but just guessing! Please correct me if I'm wrong

Did not prime motor with oil pickup still upside down for first start up. Or can do it with timing belt off and spinning oil drive gear with drill before installing belt. To remove all air in filter and channels and get beter oil pressure on first startup.
@SuperPandaren3 ай бұрын
Not sure if this is necessary for the 4G63, but I would assume that the main-bearing cap nuts are torqued and then angled? Which I assumed wasn't angled because of the shot @ 10:21 The paint marker of the studs line still line up perfectly with the nuts.
