This question comes from Cliff Mcclure. He asks, "How about a 3 ball arsenal for the average league bowler on a budget? Say, 2 and a spare ball that has the most versatility?"

It's in the thumb hole. He already said it. You would've seen it prior to the ball being drilled. You'd also see it for 90% of layouts but some layouts actually drill the thumb directly into the pin.

A versatile bowler that's going to invest in at least 3 balls I know a lot of people suggest a spare ball. I however do not. Strongly suggest learning to flatten your hand and keeping another spot in the bag open. For most of us that bowl tournaments...well very few will only bring only 3 but I still dont waste a spot with plastic. Much rather fill it with a urethane and be useful more ways than 1

I use the urethane (Nitro R2 from 1992) as my spare ball...just throw it a little harder, it'll go straight :-)

This is the guy I've always wanted to sit down with and ask him dozens of questions I've had regarding bowling that nobody else can provide me a confident answer for. Bowling is way too secretive as far as the tips/tricks and in depth knowledge. Especially compared to every other sport. It reminds me of fishing how so many people know the answers but they just don't want to give up the information. So many websites for bowling that CHARGE MONEY in order to get some in depth information. It's ridiculous. So many ball reviews where they ALWAYS pretend like the ball they are reviewing is the greatest gift to the sport of bowling. So many lies. I hate it! Mo was in my opinion one of the only guys who actually kept it 100% with you about EVERYTHING he knew in regards to the sport of bowling. He will be missed.

For me (higher Rev player)... I like my 4th ball to be something I can play simpler and straighter with... I'm not super great (190 avg)... There's some of those nights that I'm off and inconsistent and I just can't seem to control my bigger balls with the amount of hand I typically put in it... This nights it's better for me to just settle down, drop to my weak ball, and rip it up the 10 board... For me its an old Motiv Tag Cannon... To support Mo here, something like a Counter Attack Pearl

3-balls is never enough and you have to have a minimum of 4 with one ball always being and urethane ball if you want to be competitive

@@elr2141979 I do not use a spare ball because I can throw straight and hard. So in my spare ball spot, I have a Urethane.

Solid Conspiracy if you can get it unless you have serious wet lanes then Warp. If you can't get Conspiracy solid, maybe Warp with little polish / 3k surface or Results with lower surface. Results WILL hook if you sand it. Just depends on shape. Squatch = earlier / smoother and Conspiracy solid close to same. Warp is little longer by numbers and Results much longer (skip / flip) by numbers.

For a Mo Monday, can we dedicate one episode to Dual Angle Layouts? Maybe like a high level overview? I have read one of Mo's articles about it, but I am wondering why some layouts are stronger for other people than others. Like, for example, in the Results video, the staffer's degrees are 60 and 30. And most of the review videos have their strong layouts around 60ish and 30ish instead of the strongest flipping of 70 and 20. Is that because of their tilt?

I would have my Arsenal to be at Plastic and both Symmetric for my Urethane and Reactive.

Thanks Mo. Great advice. My quesition is, if I don't have too many revs, can a Urethane ball do the duties of a spare ball? I believe that it could ultimately be way more versatile when conditions get really dry, like here in Panama with the super warm weather that we have all year long.

@@jimmeazee3133 You can also lay your hand completely flat upon release, and it won't hook. I've even used reactive balls using this technique, and I've converted 10 pins more than once. What I mean is that, if your arsenal is 6 or 9 balls, then it makes all the sense to use a plastic ball for just spares, but if you are restricted to 3 balls only, a Urethane ball can be more versatile overall. You just need to change your delivery a little bit and it will work as a plastic ball 99% of the time. If lanes are super dry, a Urethane ball can hook, and it might be a good idea to have it because the other two balls will hook too much. I say this because where I live there is a lot of heat and after a full day of open bowling with lots of carry-down and oil evaporation, trying to hit the pocket is really hard. Even plastic balls hook in those conditions.

I use an old urethane ball for my 10’s, 9’s, 3-6-10 etc as a righty and I throw a lot of revs but I also throw 17 mph

What is that pin layout on the symmetrical ball? since you said sym balls that are pin down are bad. Wouldnt it be a continuous ball being pin down sym?
