Aircon sounds reasonable for a "track day" car instead of "race car", as the actual total weight (which can be less than some cooling vest systems) and extra power needed to drive accessory belt (a couple of horsepower) isn't going to back a big difference compared to a hot/tired driver, and its not like this motor is going to turn at speeds a stock petrol wouldn't as to worry the pump. But I do suspect you'll end wanting to swap the factory condenser for something outside the engine bay and insulate the remaining lines so that it both actually works when the under-bonnet regions an oven and doesn't interfere with the space/airflow for radiator/inter-coolers that could be fitted... we do this for many 4x4's here down-under because the hot climate, low speeds working hard offroad and demand to fit bullbars/winches/intercoolers at the front cause simlar problems. I've even seen several older US cars with the complete setup hidden away somewhere like the old spare tyre well, running an electric compressor to keep the engine bay clean/unmolested but still having it enjoyable to cruise on a hot day.... but I suspect a golf might not have that degree of unused space outside passenger cabin, and it would be heavier than just moving the condenser.
@DarksideDevelopments3 жыл бұрын
Yes that's correct and a good idea, its the condenser that's the problem!

@DarksideDevelopments2 жыл бұрын
The bridges are a good preventative measure but not always needed. The BMN engine is ok but the limitation is the siemens fuel system at ~270bhp. This can be swapped out for Bosch basically making it into a BKD engine.

@@DarksideDevelopments here in United States 3/4 ton pickup trucks rule the Diesel market. With any high hp Diesel engine, smoke before the turbo lights is inevitable when running modified injector nozzles, large turbochargers, modified compression ratios ect. 10k in parts, then how much in work? It kinda seems pretty expensive for such a project, people selling built racecars for like 7k-15k with better specs. Or its for some kind diesel class in Nurburgring? Or because of diesel reliability and torque all over rpm by this build?
