Hi your video has inspired me to try making my own. I would like to know if the holes for the roller pins are slightly angled downwards as it seams to be in the pics
@RussellHoughton Жыл бұрын
No there not. It just looks that way because the radius is larger on the inside then on the outside.
@groundprepper494610 ай бұрын
Is it a flat bottom? And what do roll pins do . Need close up 😁
@RussellHoughton10 ай бұрын
Ots cupped inside. The coll pins help roll the rim of the shell with out melting it
@saleembarmania529510 ай бұрын
I'm not sure i understand how you solved the 'bell' problem and ended up with a nice inwards bevel without angling the roll pins.
@RussellHoughton10 ай бұрын
The pins are set into the radius of the brass
@saleembarmania529510 ай бұрын
@@RussellHoughton ok. So the rim of the hull encounters curved brass first and starts bending inwards before contacting the pins. Is the brass groove then not sufficient by itself? Why use pins at all?

@saleembarmania5295 there woukd be to much heat without them.

Can it be made out of aluminium?
@RussellHoughton Жыл бұрын
Yes. But the aluminum crimper will leave a black mark on the shell. I have a plastic one aswell but that didn't last long.
@JoseFranciscoCampoy Жыл бұрын
But is this black mark affecting the shell performance?@@RussellHoughton
@RussellHoughton Жыл бұрын
@JoseFranciscoCampoy no it will just be cosmetic
@JoseFranciscoCampoy Жыл бұрын
Alright, I'll start working on it then. Thanks for the answers! Cool channel btw. @@RussellHoughton

Are the cross holes completly perpendicular to the axis? (2 through holes 90° appart) I had thought that the "rolling" effect came from a slight angle on the pins. Thanks for the video, looking forward for more!
@RussellHoughton2 жыл бұрын
They are perpendicular but a slight angle should work alittle better. Some are made that way and some are not.

@@RussellHoughton thanks for the reply, I'll give it a try...probably in a Wooden prototype...I don't have access to a lathe anymore. Great to see Canadian content about guns and fun stuff!
