That pond is really sharp, I’m loving the little island , the dock and the lighting. If any turtles happen to make their way to your pond don’t worry about a thing, they’ll help to keep your entire ecosystem running smooth. They usually can’t catch healthy fish since they’re so agile, instead turtles target sick or dying fish. They’re practically the vultures of freshwater, acting as a clean up crew. This in the long run will keep your fish and pond healthy.

When watering trees, slow and deep is best. Eg 20 gallon barrel with a tap and hose to the base of the tree. Adjust the tap so the water trickles out over hours. It trains the tree to send its roots down deeper, if you hand water for as long as it takes water to pool on the surface, the water does not penetrate so the roots will stay shallow and the tree will be more vulnerable to drying out.

Hey there, I've been watching your videos for awhile and have recently gotten my Mom "hooked" on your adventures. She's always had to name the wildlife as well, so she gets a kick out of that. We can both really relate with what you're doing because, well long story short... My Dad was an avid Bass fisherman and was even on the semi-pro circuit in his prime. He would have absolutely loved your videos and watching what you're creating there. He would have loved even more to go fishing in what will soon be your Bass paradise. In his honor, we would love it if you named one of your new Bass after him. His name was Isaac, so Mom thought "Ike" would be good for a fish name (especially since we didn't see one already listed under the letter "I". We lost Dad to cancer the beginning of June of 2021 (right about the time you started your pond) so it's all kind of perfect for remembrance sake. He was also a huge Razorback fan, and since Mom knew you were a Bama fan, she thought a little competition would be fun. I doubt you'll be at a loss for names, but you could name one for each of the SEC teams and see who comes out on top every year! 🐗🐘🐅🐶🐊🦅. Thank you for the entertainment and keep up the great work! Remember that even on your worst days, you are living the dream that many of us would love. And keep in mind that while you're not building a "field of dreams", it is a "pond of dreams" so know that the ones who've gone before us are probably sharing that shoreline with you. Tight lines brother!

It might work or it might not. Get it and make a little mix and do it on an control small plot that is 20ft by 20ft and see what happens. I had a license ro Spratt chemicals so take what I said and see what happens on a controlled area that is small. If it works based on the chemical mixture then do it if not then mix least and spread in the acreage until it is gone. Just some advice I can try and give.

Something I really recommend, especially for when your bass get big enough, probably a year or two away, is to stock some trout in the pond in the winter. I'm from California, and the secret for growing the giant bass we have here is the trout stocking that our lakes receive. If you put some trout in there in the winter, you might have double digit bass in no time. And, the trout will die off in the summer most likely because there's no way they'd survive the heat, equaling more easy meals for your big bass. Also tilapia are an option for growing giants if you notice that bluegill numbers get low.
@ginomorris48732 жыл бұрын
I’ve caught several largemouth with stalked trout tails sticking out of their throat fat piggies they turn into!!!!
@Hrogthar2 жыл бұрын
Way too expensive for the gain. Shad and bluegill create trophy bass by themselves. The biggest thing is removing smaller fish that eat up the bait and stunt growth for the larger fish.
@ginomorris48732 жыл бұрын
@@Hrogthar The other problem I didn’t even consider is the temperature of the pond would not be suitable for trout they don’t do well with higher temperatures and the oxygen levels would not be adequate for their survival most species of trout and they are indeed expensive.. Especially if they are to be used as feeder’s…The ponds environment is already balanced that much is clear .. I would love to see a small amount of crappie as they can grow bigger than most people think unmolested that is.. Perch would be nice and pickerel would be a problem eventually.. This pond is really as it needs to be… I just wish it was mine 😀
@Hrogthar2 жыл бұрын
@@ginomorris4873 If he's serious about bass and their growth, just bluegill would be ideal. Don't want to introduce competitors for baitfish. It's why green sunfish are typically a mistake for growing ponds, even if they are some of the best protein. Their mouths are large enough to compete with bass fry. Bluegill with their small mouths and ability to spawn pretty much year round is really perfect for bass growth. If you want to fatten them up, shad and fathead minnows are great as well.
@ChapmanWolf2 жыл бұрын
@@Hrogthar possibly, I think that as a seasonal food they could be a very helpful food item; could be expensive though. trout, crawfish, or tilapia, the latter two being more of a year round food source

I put a balance pipe from my duck bath to another water container outside their run (with a lid). Then put my ball valve in that tank so it automatically tops up their water. Its also easy to turn it on or off. Geese will empty their bath completely in seconds sometimes so deffo need that control.

Great video! Can I suggest you plant some native plants around the edges, which have much deeper roots than grass and will be better at preventing erosion. They will also require less care and be better habitat for wildlife and your fish. I’m not sure what is native to your area but some quick searches should turn up a lot of options

Man great videos, that pond is awesome. I can't wait till those base get bigger and you start fishing it. Watching you feed Moby makes me want to get back into bass fishing. I'm down in Naples, Florida, so I have the everglades in my back yard tons of great fishing spots. A good name for one of the bass is Skunk Ape, since the bass are half Florida bass. Skunk ape is the big foot/ yeti of the Florida everglades.
