Hey Breezetix! It's Alex_Prototypical_ from the motorbike server you're in, great job on the video! Your edits are as clean as your build; props for the in-depth, quality video. You've got a knack for these engines and I'm excited to see more of your builds if you ever decide to build more 😁. I saw that deal from California Motorbikes, glad you snagged it when you did! I decided against it because if something bad happened to the jug, I'd have to shell out a pretty penny for a replacement. But it seems like you got a good kit that'll last you a while. Cheers!

That I know of, I've only gone 20 miles on this lol. But at least this isn't a phantom, it should last. If the jug breaks, oh well buy the athena kit, more hp and rpm, ally jug, and should last longer.

CORRECTION! I was wrong, you want both shields on both bearings removed, so you constantly lubricate the crank seals. I thought you wanted one shield (on the crankseals sides) on both bearings, to reduce the airflow, but still leak out the oil to lubricate the seals. Once I rebuild the engine with a new balanced crank etc I will do that now.
@juancarlosrodriguez8381
@juancarlosrodriguez8381 6 ай бұрын
Idk men the guy from Build-Break-Fix kept the seal on the bearing on the side of the case seals. I don't think those seals needs lubrication since all they do is seal the case.

@peterjohn3180
@peterjohn3180 Ай бұрын
You need the big reed valve kit, there are loads, one was £25 with manifold suggested for use on a motorised, but the seller didn't realise it was for minarelli. You can get kits with basically the V shape ( in cross section) reed valves that bolt on and still have carb coming out of the side. MXS, and many more. Funnily enough the minarelli vertical has same reeds/ inlet shape as the honda Dio etc and Peugeot speed fight etc engines. Honda and Peugeot have reeds in the crank case beside the cylinder on the left.
@breezetixmoto
@breezetixmoto Ай бұрын
It has a reed valve...
@peterjohn3180
@peterjohn3180 Ай бұрын
@@breezetixmoto yes but only a single sided one, minarelli cylinder wouldn't work without one 😁. Your inlet has the flow contact valve at 90 degrees. With a V shaped reed valve you get twice the inlet area. You know the reed valves that have a body that is triangle from the side? You can get an adapter. I have one in my cupboard, wish I could show you what I mean..... like reed valve on minarelli horizontal. Even the standard vertical inlet would work better than your set up as it aims inlet charge kind of downwards.
@peterjohn3180
@peterjohn3180 Ай бұрын
@@breezetixmoto I googled big reed valves for minarelli vertical, sorry I couldn't find this video so left similar comment on other video! Sorry, not stalking you!🤯 Polini big valve £120!!!! MXS £ ? Nuraku(naraku?!) make one. I got one cheap, it was specified for standard motorised bikes cylinder! They sold adapter which was a block of aluminium, bolt/ thread holes and an inlet hole to cylinder - that would have just lowered power even with hole in piston. I think you can get an Athena cylinder kit for vertical..... with power valve! Useful for single gear.

Just coming across your channel for the first time and I’m very happy to see that you’re getting the views that you are. Although I am only a few minutes in, I do disagree with one comment. This is completely wrong. These are air cooled engines and don't have a fan too cool them so leaving it idle for 2 hours would cause it to overheat. Also, leaving it idle for 2 hours does nothing to break in the engine, a proper engine break in uses heat cycles and varying the rpm while riding the bike
@ncopp4358
@ncopp4358 7 ай бұрын
2 hours? Absolutely wrong. That will in fact destroy an iron cylinder. The rings need to seat properly with mid range rpm. I thought the crank came balanced from California bikes. It says so on the description of the engine on their web site. That's a bummer if this engine does not come with a balanced crank everybody knows to run a minarelli hybrid properly you need a balanced crank. Great video by the way on this type of engine!!
