I read the entire Ryan's kzbin.infoUgkxGqOCINHE0Z0E5gxzSdNi9NWGugRY5Hm2 Plans and was able to make a shed plan. Using Ryan's Shed Plans alone, the shed itself is great. Where I wish I knew more is with respect to ground preparation and foundations. Maybe that's beyond the scope of Ryan's Shed Plans.

Kyle, you may want to try to lay the tape down with a brush first to make it wrinkles free, and then the squeegee. This channel has been inspirational to build on my own a structural glazing roof and in changing the roof asphalt felt and replace all the broken clay tiles of my old house and installing all the metal flashings following your detailed descriptions. Even get me making videos of it. Keep them coming.

All I have to say is I wish more contractors were on YT. Even if you can't show the entire build (too time consuming), you could at least get an idea of their work, if you're looking for good, honest, contractor. It's so frustrating, especially when your job is on the border of another state, and the closest city is in that other state (I'm in CA. The closest city is Yuma AZ). Really enjoying watching the build... just wish it was mine😏 ❤️🌵☀️⛈️🌈☮️🐎

Unbelievable quality of work and attention to detail 👍 I think silicon was being used for years as the only seal for windows but now with the invention of the tape it just gets used as habit. Hear in the UK we can still replace windows with only silicon as the final seal, keep up the good work.

I believe the silicon acts as a glue and draft seal, as well as stopping moisture between the surfaces. Then again with the spray foam filling the cavity which would act as both a draft excluder and moisture barrier you do bring up a great point. Having a layered approach to the construction only adds to the lifetime of the product. Mind you as most windows are rated for 25-30 year warranty (lifespan) most likely they would be replaced long before serious damage could be performed to the structure by not having a silicon seal.

The window tape waterproofs the opening around the window cutout in your framing, the silicone is what actually seals the window to the building. If anything the silicone is a very important part because it is what adheres and bonds the window to the structure. The tape doesnt really do anything to seal the window opening, it only protects framing/osb from water.

The window unit should be air sealed at the interior to the WRB for air movement control and continuity of the system but the tape wasn't applied properly and I can guaranty the window mull was not requested certified from Pella which makes this instal a D-

Lovely windows well worth the wait. We have mostly one style of window where I live. The design of which is classed as universal. One fits all approach. So of course it is a total compromise and doesn't really work on anything other than face brick. The most common is a sliding window design that to meet standard only has to withstand a given amount of simulated driving rain. Above this amount the excess water pours into the house all along the bottom sill as the drain holes don't cope. It would be really nice to have a choice and a much better design but every window company in my area produces pretty much the same crap. Even more disheartening is they believe they are quality windows. I doubt you would even fit them but I have no choice.
