How To Build A Custom Office Desk! This is a huge L-shaped walnut desk, spanning 5 metres long. One side consists of a storage unit with olive ash continuous grain sliding doors with inlayed handles, and the desk area has hidden cable holes, a shallow drawer and a modern geometric leg! The Desk is constructed from walnut veneered MDF and solid walnut and I used a festool domino to build the desk. Each section is joined together with hex bolts and threaded inserts.

Superb work Sean, love those legs, very unusual and way the sliding doors are set back from the centre along with the book matched veneer, great effect. No wonder your commissions can take so long to do on your own, the daily uploads should work well as it's showing real time progress. Tony

That is amazing desk with great storage and cable management. Hope your channel takes off as your work is unique and beautiful. Also, I think you should make your videos longer - you have so much to cover and have to rush. 20 or even 25 mins would be perfect.

This is an epic desk! Well done my friend! Often times I feel you gravitate to a style that is too fancy for me, but this is so accessible and well executed. I would watch more of you content if you produced more projects like this!

Great idea if using the wedges to clamp the inlay. Lovely work
@SeanEvelegh

Thanks Josh! Yeah I was thinking about how to clamp it for a while, I was going to use masking tape at first, pulling it from either side. Which would have worked well but I think the wedges were quicker and saved lots of tape ahaha

That's a beautiful desk! Love the legs you created. Nice geometric design! I like the forward thinking of making it modular so you can take it apart if needed.

Thank you Erik! Glad you liked it! I agree, it was so good being modular! I don’t think I’d be able to get it out the workshop if it wasn’t ahah

@@SeanEvelegh So true. Then the next step would be figuring out how to get it to the client's site if it was one piece. Definitely gives me some ideas when I'm ready to upgrade my current desk.

You said you got the veneered MDF from Latham’s and in the past when I tried to get some of their sheet products I was told they only sell via the usual merchants. This made it prohibitively expensive in small quantity. Any tips?
@SeanEvelegh
@SeanEvelegh Жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, Sorry I don't think I can help much with that. I think you'll need to buy larger quantities

Shame! You seem to be a very good woodworker but you lost me withe the comment about the 5 layer bubble wrap. Such wast of plastic where you can use reusable material like myself and others do. Good luck and hope you change ur approach to delivering pieces
@SeanEvelegh
@SeanEvelegh Жыл бұрын
Hey! I totally agree, I actually reuse all my packaging and have used that bubble wrap for over 25 deliveries now (and counting). I also use recycled paper for a lot of my packaging aswell.
