This press has worked like a charm for my projects kzbin.infoUgkxajoEbapTfqWaadnqb04h6U576yxXp-FE . I didn't even secure it to my table top, mainly due to the fact that I was using a 15 lbs drill vise. It's not flimsy at all as to what others have claimed it to be. Make sure the locking nuts and levers are secured and there won't be any issues with light pressure and patience. I was able to drill through aluminum, plastic, and steel (steel took a while) with no problems at all. Yeah it took a little longer than a regular drill press, but I don't have the space OR the money for one.The instruction manual was worthless, but luckily assembling the press was intuitive. However, the manual would be good for ordering replacement parts if needed. There is a nice breakdown of the parts that are included in the kit. Before ordering, make sure it is compatible with your unit, it is clearly stated what models the press is compatible with. This was an excellent purchase for $40!!

I just finished up a full teardown, and rebuild of a 1984 Powermatic Model 66 3HP Baldor motor tablesaw with a 72" bessemeyer fence. It was a really fun rebuild, but took a long time! I wire brushed the entire cabinet, repainted it with truck bed liner for lasting results. A great tip is to paint the inside bright white so that if you need to check inside for an issue or cleaning, the white paint will reflect much more light and make it easier to see things with just a simple flashlight. Keep up the great work!

People aways overlook the slots in the foot of the press and that the power head can swivel. If you make the cabinet front to back deeper, say 6,8 -ish inches and base base floor past rear panel. The hollow created with various straps or clamps mounting methods for long stock, for end boring long stock by pushing back the press and rotate the head, counter weight in base. Hollow can also store special fences and flat jigs.

Great video! I'm concerned with the amount of weight on the 2 wood pieces holding the entire drill press in the center. Considering they are just plywood, they might split. I think I'll make the drawers in the center permanent to help hold the weight.

Well worth watching, as usual, thanks for sharing. I notice that you have developed the habit of wiping the "crumbs" away with your hand. Hi, you are using your router the wrong way. If you use a guide, you should use de round edge of your router and not the flat side. The round side has exactly the same distance at any point the round egde to the middle of the router bit. That way, it doesn't matter if you rotate your router as long as the round edge keeps in touch of your guide. Keep up the good work! Rob

I think Jean referred this as being a simplified approach- those cleats don't require a lot if wood and you don't have to fiddle with getting dados routed to a particular depth and width.

Nice project Jean. You got some new camera equipment right? Just a little feed back for you since you are still getting use to it. The video seemed just a little darker than normal. Also the voice over parts didn't sound as pleasing as the live audio in the shop. Its probably because its different from what I am use to hearing from your videos and the echo the shop adds. You did the voice over in your home verus the shop. Nothing terrible I would still continue to watch. Just wanted you to have the feedback. Can't wait for next part.

I noticed that you used the flat edge of the router base against the straight edge. That is a common mistake. If one side of the flat edge of the base pulls off of the straight edge even the slightest fraction, it'll result in having a skewed line. Try putting the rounded edge of the base against the straight edge, it's much more forgiving if the router twists. Nice project though.
