At TEDxPICT, Bhavna Pandya, a microbiologist explores the rapidly growing field of synthetic biology and the emergence of DIY labs and open science communities. She takes us on an intriguing journey to explore the revolutionary advancements in synthetic biology and the need for collaborative and open approaches to ensure a safer and more equitable future for all.
Bhavna Pandya is the Head of the DIY Bio Lab and Coordinator of the Bioincubator, an Entrepreneur, and a passionate biologist. BioRiiDL is India's First DIY bio lab and first bioincubator in the city of Mumbai. She received her Masters degree from K.J. Somaiya College of Science and Commerce in Microbiology from where her entrepreneurial journey started. She is also mentoring projects and startups in the field of biotechnology, food and healthcare. She is also the founder and chief organiser of Darwin India, an International Conference designed to promote the Biohacking Movement in India and to enhance community Bio-labs. Apart from that she has been a Judge at the iGEM Foundation, an independent, non-profit organisation dedicated to the advancement of synthetic biology, education and competition.
