I think this is gonna be my favorite base builder. As flexible as Minecraft but with better voxel resolution for details, beautiful graphics like Valheim but without the constraints of physics, lots of interior pieces for decoration. It's perfect 10/10

Your building videos have convinced me to get the game, I love base building and decorating, though I'm not very good at the outsides it really helps to have videos like this! You're creative, helpful, and make very awesome builds. 11:35 what a good building system. You can delete small pieces and it knows how it should look. I also had a question like "If you use a 4 height column, would it subtract the amount of stone you already have there?" and then you answered the very question... I've never seen such an intelligent building system like this before.

Damn Chiselchip, I spent 6 hours yesterday building your starter cabin, it took that long for me to work out the roofing mechanics, finally finished it, love the ambiance and now I'll have to tear it out and build this one, which is way nicer. Oh well, I think I'll get the materials back though.
@Chiselchip
@Chiselchip 6 ай бұрын
Haha glad you like the design!! Yah as long as you have the flame alter placed when you dismantle it then you will get all the materials back! It's all about practice, once you get used to the roofing it all gets easier... After having done the first starter house this one only took me about 3 hours to build with my friend helping gather materials

For you arched trim pieces you're working on (time stamp around the 24min mark) the ones that came up "arched" were done from the ground but the ones you did from the "porch" were elevated, try knocking out a porch piece then doing the trim.

I'm really liking the building in this game (as well as the gameplay). There is SO much you can do with the different sizes - whether it's to fill out **large** areas quickly, or using the small pieces for accent work. I don't like the roof appex visual as it is at the moment, and I hope they do tweak that a bit in the near future. I also hope that in the future there will be more shapes to choose from (circular, cones, arches, fences, gates, etc.). This is so early in "Early Access" though, that I'm really happy with how much we can do at this very beginning. Thanks for a great building video! It's fun to see how others put things together! Have you done a video on floating bases yet? If not there is no stability mechanics in this game soooo…. U can build floating bases lol something I’m sure intrigues u… if u go to a cliff and place a fire altar at the edge u can build floor blocks in the air within the building area then place another altar n pick up the first one then rinse n repeat building out as far as u decide to go… so u can build a base floating above the shroud they also have illuminated blocks/stones u can harvest u can use to build so if u build something above the shroud u can build scaffold blocking to get u under the base and put illuminated blocks under the base… at nighttime it looks absolutely amazing just some food for thought since I know u like building awesome bases… anyway love ur content hope u keep playing this for quite some time 💯🎯

I swapped out the rough stone blocks for flint stone block.

Does it have the features to copy the block you are hovering over so you don't have to find it in your inventory?

@Chiselchip how much material of each type did you have to use to build this?

Cool build man. I'm surprised how much I'm loving this game, it really reminds me of the perfect combination of Valheim and Skyrim. The exploration and questing is really well done, and the building capabilities seem really impressive too. My only gripe is that the snapping and placement seems a quite a bit clunkier than Valheim.

23:29 So this is something that cannot be changed (At the moment) as far as I'm aware, I first noticed this with the Flint Stone blocks, on one side their shows some kind of flint ledge on 1 side of the flat wall block, and on the other side it doesn't appear, it looks as though this is set to the North and West or East and South, and no matter whether too rotate the blocks, it'll remain the same side, which is slightly annoying, looks as though this is the same for other materials used!

Yah, they arch every other one, so i'd have to make the wall one block out for it to work

regarding the arches when placing a 1x1 block. there is no way to force these arches. doesnt matter the rotation or where your looking. if you look close when placing those beams around the cabin part of the build. you can see which sides will form these arches. you will see a slight arch already forming. if you dont see a slight arch already forming. theres nothing that can be done those sides just wont arch. this is a bug. iv also noticed. only 2 sides of a build currently can form arches. even if you try building based on compass directions it doesnt matter its random which two sides will form these arches

Yah they seam to form on every other block, so only work around would be to bring the wall out by one more block

The first base I built I made little block by little block because I never realized you could actually use the hammer to speed the process along lol, took me a while but I made a decent starter house. I felt real dumb when I realized that could have be infinitely faster 😅

pretty sure it gives the "arch effect" in those corners from where the original cross beam was placed between the closer pillars

Great builds but me being a master carpenter for 35 yrs maybe it is just me but you should let the roof tile overhang by one more for a soffit overhang look but great builds keep up the good work

Yah I'll definitely be doing that on future builds! This one is just an easy starter one to follow along with. I appreciate your care to that though! I'm a carpenter / contractor by trade in the real world as well haha

Thanks... Because of the house pic in the thumbnail, I have been way too judgmental on my house. It's too blocky and looks like a$$... I haven't left to go get the first sleeping dude yet cause I can't have the smith move into a jacked up shack. 😁

the corners you were getting them either square or arched, is it what you attach it too? For example it looked like some were attached to the side and not the top and others vice versa. i've watched this away from my pc so i cannot confirm. (22/24 mins)
