Sam, to check slab depth get a 1/4" masonry bit and drill through the slab where you want to mount a lift. Use a coat hangar or other metal probe with a finger bent on the end to probe and find the bottom of the slab. Measure length.

You’re making the right upgrades in the right places, I’d recommend the rear control arms they really help to get rid of the skittish rear and feel these cars are known for, remember to check the pinion angle since this car is lowered. It may seem like an extra expense but trust me you’ll love the way it handles with a rear axle that’s not jumping all over the place. You may just want to keep this car when you’re done…

There's more to a BOSS 302 engine than an intake. Still, it looks cool. The most important part to improving the S197 Mustang's suspension is front lower control arms with improved ball-joints. Make sure you rock some of those.

Exactly, I didn't know all of the differences until after I bought my 13 BOSS 302. You can make the argument they are not the same engine, maybe cousins but they are so different then the Gen 1 coyote. A lot of the parts used in the BOSS 302 ended up in the Gen 2 coyotes.
@jezeski2011
@jezeski2011 2 жыл бұрын
Another difference was the bore and stroke were different than a regular 302, so adding parts on the 'outside of the engine' like headers and intake just isn't the same.
@brianwright9514
@brianwright9514 2 жыл бұрын
They are different engines. The only thing that's the same is the bore spacing and the cam phasers. Kind of like the difference between a 911 and a 911 GT3. They look similar, but they're almost entirely different.
@DragNetJoe
@DragNetJoe Жыл бұрын
@@brianwright9514 Meh, it's a derivative engine. I have a GT350 with a Voodoo 5.2, but I recognize it's really a Coyote at heart, with a lot of different parts including the flat plane crank, but it's not "entirely different", anymore than really the Koenigsegg 5.0 is entirely different. Yea, not a lot of interchangeable parts, but the basic layout and design is the same.

Those bits you used to remove the stripped bolt are bur bits. They're used in a foundry setting where iron molds are poured for example. In the finishing process at a foundry, those bits are used to grind off metal burs on the casting before they're shipped off to a tooling machine shop. An example of what iron foundries produce are electric motor casings, engine parts for our vehicle manufacturers. However, grinding metal burs off in the foundry finishing process makes it easier for the machine shops tools to machine that part down to the specs required by the manufacturer of that particular product. Then those parts are applied to your car, motors, air conditioning units etc.

Sam, glad to hear about the lift. But if you are planning on moving the 2 post lift in the near future I would get a 4 post lift as a solution for the horse barn. With a 4 post lift at least in NY you don't have to bolt it to the floor and you can get roller attachments that makes it easy to move. You can also turn it into a substitute 2 poster by getting the jack attachment that Bendpack has or what I do with mine is I use QuickJacks on the ramps to lift all 4 wheels off the 4 post lift and work on my cars. I have nothing against 2 post lifts but in my case my primary use case is car storage. Once you build the future garage you can put 2 posters in there and move the 4 poster there as well and you wont have to deal with the bolts sticking up in your horse barn floor. Love you channel.

A more DIY and easy to install solution is a 4 post lift. I bought mine in a group buy with a bunch of factory five cobra guys and paid only $1580 for it. Assembly was done 100% by myself. It's easy to put up and it's working well 15 years later. The lift has casters that can be installed to move it. You drop the lift on the caster arms and it lifts itself off the floor. Sure, it doesn't fold up and get out of the way, but it has been a great aid to work on cars for me or store cars up in the air with another one under it. A 2 poster is certainly nice because you can do wheel and suspension work but the 4 poster is nice and safe because you can't do the Lotus Elise thing where on a 2 poster, if you pull off the front wheels, the car will fall off the back.

The best way to figure how deep your concrete is, drill a hole where you think you may put a support pole and then mark the drill bit with tape once you go through it. That will give you a better idea .
