Listen to this guy! As a home mechanic I, too, used purple stuff on brake jobs in Hawaii and seemed always premature, uneven wear on my brake pads. I always thought it was problematic calipers, which prompted me to change calipers and never pay much attention to the slide pins. Recently, I cheeked out and only changed pads on a 2012 tsx and a 2010 ES 350. Both cars had premature pad wear on one side. Both cars with the premature wear had slide pins that were gummed up with the purple stuff and did not slide well. Replacing the purple stuff with napa Sil-Glyde.🎉

The Toyota race teams don't even get engines fully assembled, so don't feel bad. I like to think it's all part of their 'Just in Time' production method. They have a finite amount of parts at any given time to reduce waste and over head on the grand scale, and having engines for crate applications is seen as wasted space. Not saying right or wrong, as ten thousand parts in boxes aren't very efficient either, but when you have a few main engines that any of those shared parts can go to, it does make a semblance of sense from the parts bin side of things. Add: This is purely for the metallurgists-in-training out there, so most may not care. Oxidized aluminum is actually the native condition aluminum is found in (bauxite ore if you want to be Really pc) and is essentially a protective layer that naturally forms on raw/untreated material. You can strip it off of course and add a protective coating (anodizing, polymer-based surface treatments, paint, etc) but it really needs to be applied in a nearly hermetic environment to be truly effective, which as one might note, is a difficult environment to work in. Oxidized aluminum however is not a 'closed' surface and open to impurities like lubricant penetration, operating fluids and such, forming a second barrier surface of varying effectiveness. So in a high volume production environment, it's usually cost prohibitive to what most people will be willing to maintain on daily driver vehicles, so you won't see many topical surface treatments in the wild. It is more common in high performance applications. custom markets and aerospace for example.

Thank you, that was wonderful. I would love to hear that engine start for the first time. As for the bolts in the head, I once developed a QA tool for a certain EU car manufacturer. The way you check the tension of a bolt is measure the torque as you tension it again: as soon as the bolt starts moving, torque drops for a moment, and that's the value used for quality assessment. This is years ago when they sampled - with automated assembly this is automatically measured and registered for every single bolt.

Please keep us completely posted! I would love to see it dropped in and a nice series to watch! Would be awesome!!!! Super jealous how talented you guys are. Looked so easy and reason why I love working on my lil old Camry and maintaining my newer Corrola. Keep this Chanel alive and I’ll be here soaking up whatever I can! ❤

How historically undervalued motor mechanics were . This video shows how much knowledge a good technician needs . Incredible work as usual . I just wish I live in your country so I could have you look after my Rav 4 2005 3 door which now has 24,000 miles on the clock and has had 20 oil changes😂

I love these engine build videos! The best part is the final moment and point of no return. Go for main engine start. Contact. 20:18 valves. I watch VGG and a takeaway I have from him telling me about valves is when you hit them, they resonate in the heads making a musical tone. He talks about a different kind of lifter but the concept is the same. The tone should all be the same when it's the same springs keepers and seats. If one sounds different, look why that guy is doing that. I know you know but people who are watching might not all know.

OMG !!!! I have this engine in my RAV . AMD I love this video ! I watched it two times today lol . I am definitely going to watch it many more times. I am fascinated by the way an engine is built. I am not an automotive mechanic but seeing how all these parts are assembled and work together gets me excited lol Thank you for this video, it was so entertaining. God bless you and the family.

Hello there! I like your channel, thank you for doing this, honestly without commercializing. Are you going to make a video on how to change a coolant on 2GR-FKS?

Hello AMD, I hope you see this! Watching this video reminded me of our old 2011 Camry SE that's been parked for a few months, collecting dust. I suspect the head gasket gave out. I really want to get it fixed, we've had it since new, now has 240k. I'd be willing to make the drive to Chicago just to have you work on it! I'm on the CA coast and car has no rust at all. I think it's worth saving. Maybe I can contact your shop and see if it's possible to squeeze us into your schedule. P.S. I've since purchased a '24 Camry XSE Hybrid for my wife. Thanks to all the videos you've had of your Camry before you sold it, we made the decision to get one as well.

1:12:12 spark plug tubes are way off. The cylinder valve 2 grommet is gonna leak oil eventually, the only thing that will keep it from popping out will be the ignition coil. Other than that LOVED IT!
