Incredible video. From the cauls, to the explanation on planer blade wear, to addressing your mistakes... I took more away from this video than from any other KZbinr. I just did the final glue up on my first brick style cutting board and I now have so many tips for my next board. Thanks for taking the time to put your content out there.

Loved you in varsity blues and Dawson’s creek! 😝 I want some festool gear as much as the next guy…but for me, getting a drum sander first made more sense. Are they that much better then basic drills, sanders and miter saws? My old job had a festool track saw…I was not impressed…but I know it was used by guys that didn’t care about it cause it wasn’t theirs so it got tossed around in the van and in the shop.

I upgraded from Ryobi and I use my orbital sander on every project. It’s made a world of difference so I recommend it

@@workshop_edits ugh, I have a ryobi. Stupid thing bounces all over the place. I have a dynabrade sand and a 60 gallon compressor (waiting on paperwork to connect it to 220). Is the festool better then an air sander? I’m a buy once/cry once kind of guy :)

when you do your handles at the bottom, put 2-3 layers of painting tape at each end of the board. do you first pass then remove the tape and do the finish pass. that makes less stress on the bit and avoid all the burning marks. that's what I do with all my cutting boards (I make like 150 a year).

Nice cutting boards. Regarding your "mistake", since the gaps are all at the end of the cutting boards, it doesn't seem like the blades are the problem. Looks to me like snipe.

I thought so too but it’s def the blade inconsistency on the outer pieces

@@workshop_edits It's definitely blade wear. I had the same issue with the centrs of a panel being thicker than the edges. If it was snipe it would be at the ends and across the entire panel. I used it as an excuse to upgrade to a helical cutter head
