In this video we resurrect a trash lawn mower and convert it into a lean mean brush cutting machine. No not really but the build is easy and was very efficient at what I needed it to do. 10:10 would pull from trash and hack up again.
Hey I wrote a book, a book about zombies. What can I say I love me a good zombie apocalypse story. You can get it on Kindle, check it out? I would love some feedback and maybe if you liked it could you help me out a leave a review? Thanks!

That is amazing! I am going to attempt to do the same thing now with my lawnmower, mine is made of plastic though so I have to work out where to put bolts for a bracket for the wheels. Anyways cheers for putting this up and demonstrating how good it is.

Your dry sense of humor fits right into the western side of North Dakota. Your video inspired me to make one of these. Been thinking about making one for a long time, but I think it’s on the list to do very soon. Happy trails

Gad you like it. Beast still runs but is on its second trash-picked engine. It isn't a true brush mower so hitting stumps or something is hell on the blades.

Great job and with the subtitles on it's so easy to follow. Now I just have to get spousal approval to cut the front of the lawn mower.

Make a heavier blade from spring steel or add a metal disk to increase rotational inertia and it will chop 1/2" sticks no problem.

Put a new carb on it or rebuild or clean carb. Never store with ethanol gas in it over a moth or two.

To make it better, and you can do this on any push mower, is to go DOWN 2 INCHES on your blade size. You have a 21 inch mower, go down to a 18 inch blade, (I'm not aware of a 19 in blade). I have a 22 inch mower, I put on a 20 inch blade which gives MORE SPACE ON THE SIDES AND BACK underneath the deck. I have used a 18 inch blade on a 22 inch mower for knee high grass. All WITHOUT CUTTING OUT THE FRONT OF THE DECK. It is not a brush cutter, but it WILL POWER THRU TALL GRASS.
@acme663ryo
@acme663ryo 6 жыл бұрын
But I built it TO cut the brush, something it does surprisingly well but I have no idea how long it will hold up.
@MrLmm001
@MrLmm001 6 жыл бұрын
The same principal still applies on the under size blade which would work with your "brush cutter" set up.
@acme663ryo
@acme663ryo 6 жыл бұрын
Not if you can't push it through the brush. Because the brush would have to be bent over to the bottom level of the deck itself it would not be possible to cut anything of size or density. This allows the mower to bend over the brush and nip it off at the bottom.
@MrLmm001

READ AGAIN. I said YOUR brush cutter. I also said that my setup IS NOT A BRUSH CUTTER. I said that your set up would benefit with a under size blade, just like my set up benefits with using a under size blade for VERY TALL GRASS. I cut grass for a living. If I need a brush cutter, I have a real brush cutter, I don't need a cheap contraption, like yours. READ AGAIN.
@acme663ryo
@acme663ryo 6 жыл бұрын
No. First you were trying to apply your setup to mine. Second the smaller blade would force the machine to push into the brush farther before the cutting happens. Thus forcing the brush to lay down further, that increases the angle (making the stems effectively thicker) and results in a slower blade tip speed (same rpm on smaller blade, less distance to travel slower speed around). I am actually surprised your setup works as well as you describe due to slower tip speed but I suppose a shorter blade means less leverage at the tip thus more horsepower at the cutting edge. I get that you are passionately invested in your idea but capslock will not make it true.

99.99999% of the time, start/run failures are due to old gas and a carburetor that has been varnished/plugged with old gas/debris. Best to drain out all gas before storing it for winter . . .
