Neat little circuit, but how is it better than a good old cheap, simple, lead acid battery?

For me: Easy to swap, easy to carry a spare in my pocket if I want to go out in the road, available source of those batteries (as I already had some) without having to buy more. Very low self discharge. Lighter, (though that makes little difference on a heavy old beeza)
