I think the ladder for Amber is a bit of a no-brainer, OF COURSE YOU SHOULD!! Great re-build. Looking forward to the next stage. Small work shelf inside maybe.

I believe placing the door panel on a long side would be more useful than crawling in from an end. Whatever the dimensions of the panel, allow it to be securely hinged so that it can be raised for a view or for ventilation.

Yes, do build the ladder. That would be helpful (especially for Amber), and it would be interesting to see just how you did it.

Soooo cool!! Every boys dream!! Ok so heres something i have thought about for a while.... im a fiber geek and because im a fiber geek how about throwing a big sheet of felted wool over the shelter, im kinda wondering how it would do in terms of insulation and water repellant.... hmmm maybe throw a treated canvas tarp over it... haha these are the musings of a fiber geek 😉 cheers!!

That fried chicken sure looked good and shrimp is always a favorite. A ladder for Amber is a great idea and an overhang would be really useful in rainy weather. ❤

I'd leave the roof pole overhanging and extend the roof over the open end. I can see sitting on the ledge with feet hanging over, and some sun/rain/wind protection would be good. A couple of sawed off rounds, of different heights, should make a serviceable entry depending on how agile Amber is. How about splitting those floor logs to get something like a flat floor, and use half the number of logs?

With all the space underneath you could always add another level. Placing a few stones fresh from the fire under a bushcraft bed makes it surprisingly comfy (needless to say they need some kind of non flammable base of course). Or you could just use it as a dry place for your backpack etc

fellow prepper with vast building experience here... ( next time you're having prawns, instead of butter/garlic, try olive oil/lemon/oregano...lol } It's your build, just make sure that the part that will take your weight, [the platform/bed] will distribute that weight downward, because as it is it doesn't... the wooden pins take all the weight when their job is just to hold everything together... there's no need to redesign anything, just use some paracord to these joins, and that will be enough!... use enough paracord to hold all the weight, the platform/bed, both of you and everything else you'll bring up there... The Viking house was the first of your videos I found... it kept popping up... I'm a new subscriber... Algo knows us too well... Cheers from the Land of Oz...

Amber needs to be involved in everything. She is a part of the channel.. Maybe thats just me being a dog lover, but I think there are many of us who think she needs to be included in everything. Definitely need that sweet girl to have a space to rest in every build you do. Keep up the good work man. You are definitely one of my favorite KZbin channels.

I'm going to say you'll need a brace on both sides close to ground level to keep the legs from spreading out. There's gonna' be a good bit of weight all total, and you don't want it turning those A's into triangles, if you get me. Looking good else wise.

Hi mate, love the build....in relation to the cross beams that the bed is going to be supported on, they are under the 'A' frame cross members and are only being held up by the dowel pegs you have hammered through. They may be enough to hold you + dog ......but if you are adding loads of logs across to form the bed then I would change the design so it doesn't snap in the night. I would put the long bed supports on the outside of the A Frame and on top of the A Frame cross members, this means that they will carry the load better and spread it more evenly and also be supported by more than just the pegs hammered through !!?? Looks sick though and I can't wait to see it finished, love the content my guy 🤙🙏🌲💚
@skrypthobbies11 ай бұрын
I'd add some upright poles bracing the floor as it will be pretty heavy and with the roof as well will put a lot of weight onto the a-frame beams. Cheers!

Lower the side rails to give yourself (and Amber) more room in the shelter. The lower center of gravity will also aid stability.

Those long horizontal cross pieces might slip off the pegs because they are at an angle. should put them on the outside or have the pegs go upwards instead on down at the angle from the outside.

defo steps rather than ladder, dogs good at getting up the ladder, but down one, hmmmm. don't want her to hurt herself jumping down, maybe like a two box system. would be some good skills practice to make two boxes from wood in the woods.

Kind of do experimental archeology is not what you think it is. Archeology is when people dig up remains and artifacts to study human history. I think you meant to say experimental architecture which is basically designing and constructing buildings and other structures like bridges. Doubt your audience eas bothered by the error just thought I would help because you can always say it was a joke to see if people are paying attention.
