In our quest for seeking out a more healthy and sustainable lifestyle, we made a plan that includes zero waste living, tiny home living and full-time travel. We considered buying an RV, looked at trailers and airstreams but settled on doing a bus conversion for our off the grid, tiny house on wheels. We bought a 1996 MCI 102 D3 coach bus and with the Bus Demolition and Interior Shell complete, now we turn it into our Tiny Home on Wheels!

In its previous life, our MCI bus was used as a school bus, although we don't think we can legitimately call it a skoolie. We are confident that converting our bus into a class a motor home will have challenges, but doing a massive overhaul and remodel on a motorhome / RV remodel didn’t seem to align with the off grid bus life we were aiming for.
In Season 4 we share the interior build as we turn it into our home.

Yup definitely want a softer appearance too. Stiff foam for the middle and softer foam for where your butt will rest!!!

Call it the “Catatorium”. I did not notice if you placed lighting in there or are the kitties going to be in total darkness. A camera might also let you monitor them while in there.

yeah we have some motion detection lights for the luggage bays so we are thinking about using one in there. Cats see really well in the dark though, so not sure it's all that necessary but might make it less spooky for them. LOVE Catatorium!

An old coach bus is what I’d choose. You gain more usable space. You may lose a little in height, but anything higher than your head is mostly space another place could use. Ergo, the luggage area below, is the perfect choice! ❤

Hi John glad you are entertained! Yes, it is only taking up about a third of the space of the luggage bay, so the other side is all storage for us. There isn't going to be any hang out area really for the cats, the litter box, ramp down into it and extra litter storage takes up that full 1/3 space. So even though we call it the cat condo etc. it's really just a space for them to poop!

A COVID mask does nothing to prevent the dust from entering your lungs, Mela. N95 or better. Miller makes a cute, low-profile, lightweight purple respirator that stays cool and I think you'll love. It's called a P100 respirator.

Why did you thread the bolts up from the bottom in the cat cave? Why not thread them down from the top so only the head is visible? Not enough clearance under the bus?

Yes I only had 4 inch bolts and only needed 2 inches so went up with the extra instead of down where it could catch onto things beneath the bud :)
